Salmonpaw jumped slightly as Yellowpaw spoke. "Hi Yellowpaw." She glanced at the other apprentice, then at the back of their leader, dropping her voice to a whisper so Cinderstar couldn't hear. "Are we headed to the beach or the mountaintop? I can't remember which way is right."

Yellowpaw sighed softly, realizing he had startled her. "I think we're going to the mountaintop.. Which is only slightly better than the beach, if you ask me." He made a face as he thought about sand getting into his long coat. "..Why?"

Salmonpaw glanced again at Cinderstar, checking she wasn't listening. "I just... I wasn't sure and I don't want to get it wrong if Cinderstar asks."

Rabbitclaw

Having finished his fish, Rabbitclaw yawned and scratched his ear with his hind leg, thinking about what to do with the rest of his day. After a couple minutes, he decided on heading down to the beach to check for driftprey that had washed up recently. He stretched, and padded out of camp.

((I'm making up a new word. driftprey is prey that has washed up on the shore from the sea like mantas or fish or other dead things. If it's too big chunks are torn off it and taken to camp.))

"Alright, move out!" With the patrol finally together, Sootstripe raised his tail and started to set out, expecting the others to follow close behind. Tallcloud's patrol had already left and he didn't want to fall too far behind, even though they were going separate ways. When they came to the first border marker, he remarked that and stepped back to let the others do the same.

Yellowpaw gave her a half shrug. "You'll be fine, she'll probably want to test me out more than she will with you." He sounded kinda irritated at that.

Orchidbreeze followed Sootstripe's orders, flicking her tail as they bounded towards the direction of the shore. She couldn't help but admire his sleek muscles as hey padded along.

Minnowpaw

Minnowpaw followed Sootstripe and Orchidbreeze out of camp and ambled along behind them, watching butterflies.

Salmonpaw

Salmonpaw nodded, sighing slightly. "I know. I just... I don't want to get it wrong, you know?" Her ears drooped a little, and she blinked hard. Shaking her head, she attempted a smile, and forced her tail to stop dragging on the ground.

Rabbitclaw

Rabbitclaw padded along the beach, prodding the bits of driftwood to see if there were any crabs or driftprey hiding there. Finding a large log, he flipped it gently to see what was underneath. His eyes lit up, as he found a whole batch of mussels clinging to it. Flicking them off one by one, he grinned and twitched his tail happily.

Yellowpaw flicked his ears, slightly surprised that she was being so down on herself. "I wouldn't be too worried about that.. You always do great, Salmonpaw." He gave her an encouraging nudge, his gaze a little softer.
(So I have a plan to make him lame somehow but it's a secret)

((I am excited! also how'd you think that the cats'd eat shellfish coz I'm thinking like eagles eat turtles. get up high(climb a tree) and drop onto sharp rocks. pick up shattered shell and collect gooey shellfish))

Salmonpaw stumbled slightly at the nudge her friend gave her. "Thanks, Yellowpaw." She smiled, then nudged him back a little harder.

Rabbitclaw

Rabbitclaw finished pulling the mussels off the log, and started sorting them into piles depending on freshness.

A young, lithe she-cat appeared on the shore farther down from where Rabbitvlaw was. She was bent over the water, concentrating on some minnows. She hadn't noticed the warrior yet.

Yellowpaw chuckled softly, trying not to be awkward at her returning nudge.
