lavender albino nightshade

Postby _Alex_ » Fri Dec 30, 2016 4:56 pm

recessive:
lavender albino

recessive:
nightshade
introducing a new gene exclusive to pocket pythons, nightshade.

this gene, the best we can observe, behaves extremely similar to piebald.
except whereas piebald creates random splotches of white scales,
nightshade leaves random somatic patches of black scales. it's thought
to be recessive in nature, yet only time will tell.

username ;; Desperado!
name ;; Solana
name explanation ;; "Solana" is short for the scientific name of nightshade, "Solanaceae." Since Solana is the first of her kind with the nightshade gene, I found it only fitting to name her after it.

    username ;; arkin.
    name ;; Venus
name explanation ;; I'm not sure whether you're familiar with Venus? She's (thought to be) a chimeric cat who became quite internet-famous for having a half-black, half-ginger face; the colours divide right down the centre of her face. Even though this python doesn't have that peculiarity, I was immediately reminded of Venus' markings when I saw her, hence I'm calling the python Venus.

username ;; Cardinal.
name ;; psuedo
name explanation ;; The first thing that they reminded me of was melanism, which is characterised by the darkening of both the skin and fur in creatures that would otherwise not be such colours. However, this usually means that the entire body is darkened. Doing a little big of digging, I found out about pseudo-melanism, which is noted to only create darkened spots or enlarge pre-existing dark stripes on the animal. So I thought Psuedo would be a good name for this unique animal. As melanism itself is also unique.

name ;; Bonveil
name explanation ;;
Bonveil is a particular name. I do not believe it has an official definition (that I could find!)
But, it is a name close to my heart. The name Bonveil reminds me of my foster kitten I had last year, Cameil. Because I loved Cameil so much, adopting her out was very very hard..
This snakes design reminds of Cameil, with its unique and intricate white lines remind me of her markings.
Hence the new, fresh name, Bonveil.

username ;; Sol
name ;; Nyx
name explanation ;; The name Nyx is a name of the goddess of the night, I chose this name because this snake is a Nightshade snake. The nightshade snake seems like a morph that has mostly mysterious snakes with a sneaky personality. This snake looks like she would be in the background of other pocket pythons because of the fact that she is very unique, being the first Nightshade variant to these little ones. Nyx is a very feared name to even Zeus himself, and I think this snake matches this personality and power.
