I used to hoard, way back when. I don't anymore though, because I came to realize how difficult it is to complete collections due to hoarders. Especially when people decide they want to hoard the rarer outcomes. That's not to say that I don't have doubles of things from years past, because I do, I keep them in my Cherished folder, but I'm willing now to trade them out for things that I'm looking for, or if I find someone who has just joined and don't seem to have a whole lot. In some regard I guess I get the point of hoarding, it gives someone some kind of goal to reach for. But, when I realized that my goals were a burden or frustration on others, I decided, to me that it wasn't worth it.

I honestly don't see why hoarders would make it harder for anyone to complete their collection? I've been active on this site since 2009 and never had an issue getting a pet I wanted for my collection because of a hoarder. Most people don't hoard rarer outcomes; those who do are few and far between. Even with list hoarders, there are very very few who ever get more than say 5 lists in their hoard. Many stop at 20 for list hoards, or 10. Fewer go past that unless they have enough fodder.

Honestly, in my opinion, if someone can trade for SO MANY of one pet, why is everyone saying it's so hard for others to get just one of that outcome? A ton of the hoarders I know only hoard up to 20 of each outcome. Not to mention many people refuse to trade any pets to hoarders because they don't support it. Why not find one of those players and ask for the pets in question?

Plus, I know quite a few people on here who only hoard and don't even have a collection beyond a few pets they really like but don't hoard. Hence my confusion on why hoarders make it harder for everyone else. There are thousands of players on CS and more join every day. You're telling me hoarders are taking so many of the available pets that you can't find one? I find that hard to believe. Hoarders are no more a burden on collectors than any other players trying to get the same pet. We all trade fairly for our hoards, and if we're sometimes willing to overpay whereas those who just want one for their collection aren't, that's our decision.

I'm not trying to get antagonistic or anything, but being labeled a burden kind of hits home and made my hackles go up. I tried to write this out as cleanly and succinctly as I could put it to avoid ruffling any feathers.

And since we're on the topic of hoarders making it harder to complete people's collections: I've actually decided to dismantle my collection. I've been having doubts about continuing to hunt for my wishlist pets that were non-hoards for a long time. As of now I'm only keeping the uncommons/rares/lists that I like and any others I've decided to hoard. The rest will be traded off for just the outcomes I want for my collection (meaning ones I'm still missing) and for my hoards.

Recently got two more eat me dogs for my hoard which brings me up to 22. I'm not sure how many more I'll be actively looking for since (1) they're crazy expensive, and (2) I want to focus on other aspects of collecting.
