Dance and Why (483 words) -
"I'm a loner, Dottie. A rebel." - Pee-wee Herman

Dottie’s favorite dance is Pee-wee Herman’s Big Shoe Dance from the movie, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure because of Pee-wee’s carefree attitude and childlike mischief.

In the scene with the dance, Pee-Wee has found himself at a bar filled with tough and burley bikers. Pee-Wee soon realizes that the situation is too much for him to handle, and tries to leave, only to accidentally knock over the bikers’ motorcycles. The bikers yank him back into the bar, and work together to plan ways to get revenge on Pee-wee, such as “killing” him or doing other painful things. Pee-Wee asks the bikers if he can have a last request before he “dies.” “Why not?” they say. Pee-Wee hurries over to the jukebox, and borrows a pair of large, white shoes. Putting them on, he proceeds to perform a strange yet funny dance for the bikers. The bikers then forgive him and make him one of their gang.

Dottie loves how Pee-wee always manages to make others smile. She respects that he embraces who he is and does fun and oftentimes crazy things. His fantastic lifestyle and adventures inspire Dottie to try to embrace who she is. Dottie is fifteen years old, born in 2001, but her mind is from the 20th century. She doesn’t understand the styles and fads of today’s day and age, but if she had access to a time machine, she would fit perfectly in the 1990’s. Pee-Wee Herman may have been mostly forgotten by today’s generation, but Dottie finds his funny antics timeless.

Dottie is sometimes teased for what she likes: old TV shows, retro gaming consoles, arcades, and of course a fashion sense reflecting that time period. Dottie’s only friends are Viscets she met online and live far away. The difference with meeting people online rather than in real life is that people online can’t see you, therefore meaning they can’t judge you based on looks. Dottie often feels worried about what others think of her, so she tries to model herself after how Pee-wee acts; he doesn’t care what others think and does what he wants to. He does what he loves when he loves and doesn’t let others bully him into doing something he doesn’t want to.

Dottie has watched “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” more times than she can count. Where others may be bored by watching the same film over and over, Dottie finds that the jokes get funnier every time. In conclusion, Dottie’s favorite dance is Pee-wee Herman’s Big Shoe Dance because he embraces who he is and loves what he does, and convinces others to like him for who he is as well. He has brought a smile to many people’s faces, children and adults alike. Christmas is about making people happy, and Pee-wee inspires Dottie to do her best to make others happy and embrace who she is.

flick's favorite dance would actually be the
jitterbug. even though it's an older dance,
he finds it to be a rather fun dance that
allows you to not necessarily follow a set
amount of movements, but free-flowing.
flick also finds it to be almost a stress relief
as when the dance style originally came out
it was associated with ones that are drunk
as the dance was so uncontrolled, unlike many
other popular, organized dances, which is one
of the many things that draws flick to love this
dance style - how uncontrolled it is.

Dance and Why (500 words) - She loves to perform any type of swing but her favorite type is electro swing! The reason why she likes it so much is because she enjoys the energetic and ecstatic moves! Her ideal part of the dances are the foot movements, without em' it just wouldn't be the same! One of her favorite songs to dance to is a song called Booty Swing by Parov Stelar! She lives to dance and she wouldn't know where she would be without it! (81 words)

"Why I love the dance so greatly? To be qute honest, Its the Ribbon.
My mother told me I would always play with the ties on her silk robes when I was just a vinceling. By the time I could walk, I would play with streamers or silk, throwing them in the air and watching in awe as they took life on their own, observing them float down differently each time. Apparently, I would run around the house, too; the long pieces of cloth flowing behind me. I found it intriguing the way the silk took its own shape as it flew behind me, or when you where to throw it. Then one day, I saw it. Someone was on TV, making all sorts of patterns as they danced across a large carpet- millions of people watching them. And their ribbon, It looked like it had a mind of its own! Dancing around the dancer, as if a duet performance. I don't remember all too well, But I knew instantly that's what I wanted to do. I started to try and mimic the dancers moves and patterns, and how she used the ribbon to wrap around her. This proved much more difficult than I would've hoped. I continuously tripped on the ‘ribbon’ I had, as well as getting plenty of knots in it! I still tried though, Determined to get it right. I remember falling a lot when I first started to jump or spin. Overall, Everything was difficult. My mother noticed my devotion to this new hobby, and for my birthday I got a real Ribbon! Not the ribbon from a craft store, nore a robe tie, but a real olympic ribbon! It had a handcrafted bamboo handle, and the ribbon was a transparent-like blue silk... and I never put it down. I practiced and practiced- And whenever I would achieve mastery of a move, it just pushed me to do more. I never understood where I had gotten this passion, but I was obsessed. The next year, my mother racked up enough more to put me in lessons for Rhythmic Gymnastics. It proved difficult, and I had to learn how to use the Ball, Hoop, Ropes, and Clubs, which was a whole new different challenge. Though, Before I knew it, I was winning medals by the month! It's just, The way you dance with The ribbon. If you can’t control it, you're as good as tripping over your own feet! Now I'm here, once again in a rythmic gymnastics finals. Though I still must work with the the other objects for finals, the ribbon is my favorite part. Putting almost all of my life into this dance, has really paid off for me- it keeps my family much richer than before. Well fed and a healthier house, as well as, it keeps me happy. Being one with the ribbon, Syncing together with the songs, is probably why Rhythmic Gymnastics is my favorite dance."

"Now I will put you in pairs..." Miss Aika the dance teacher paused, staring at the class "Dancer and Melody, Primrose and Jack, Starla -"
Dancer whimpered as he looked over at Melody who stared back with a cold glare. Melody was the type of viscet who gets what she wants when she wants it and is very bossy. "Just my luck!" he sighed as Miss. Aika told them to get in their pairs. Holding paws with Melody, Dancer gulped. "Wait! Slow down!" The male viscet begged, struggling to keep up. Dancer tried to pull away but in the act he tripped over his tail and crashed into the speaker which the music was playing from. Everyone froze and stared at Dancer before bursting out laughing. Except Melody who looked furious. Slowly standing up, Dancer's tail hit the speaker, causing it to fall over and drown the music out with a screech. With tears forming in his eyes, he turned away and ran off towards home.


After a few minutes of crying in his room, Dancer's mother came in to see him. "Dancer? Are you alright?" she asked slowly, feeling sorry for her son as she walked over to him and placed a paw on his back. "Why did you call me Dancer?! I can't dance!" he sobbed miserably. "Darling, your father and I didn't call you Dancer because of how you could Dance. We called you Dancer because we knew that you are something special like a dance. Unique and loved," she smiled, embracing her son, "Everyone laughed, I tripped over my paws! I just couldn't remember the dance!" he muttered sadly, "Well then don't dance to a pattern,"
"What? What do you mean?"
"Try freestyle dancing. To music. Don't think just do! You don't need to be good at following dance moves to be able to dance. You can make up your own dance moves and patterns in the heat of the moment!" She smiled happily at her idea, noticing Dancer's face lighting up. "Alright! I will try it!" He grinned, grabbing his stereo and a blank sheet of paper before rushing out of the house to the backyard. Almost instantly he turned on the music and tried dancing to it. In fact, he even used his favourite rock to help him think of dance moves.

Over the course of the day into the late evening, Dancer recorded all the dances he made up on the now not so blank sheet of paper. He even performed them to his parents. Feeling more confident, the next day he went back to his last dance lesson and showed everyone what he could do. Even melody was surprised. Now dancing is Dancer's favourite thing to do. He even taught his best friend how to freestyle dance. Always describing it 'As a way to express your feelings without being locked in a certain routine.' And that is why he likes freestyle dancing. He isn't trapped. He can be free like a bird.
