Evangeline trailed Shawn happily, and also grabbed some things: a flashlight, a few sheets of paper, masking tape, scissors, markers, and some pillows from the couches in the living room. Slinking down the stairs after Shawn, she sat down, beginning to poke holes in the paper with the scissors whilst Shawn set up the fort 'skeleton'. When he was done, Eve set aside her work, working quickly - and excitedly - to pile pillows under the fort. Grinning, she went back to the paper, taping it over the flashlight head. "There; I think it's all good. Watch this." Giggling, she flicked out the lights, setting the flashlight in the middle of the basement. With it a click, it came to life, the light filtering through the holes in the paper to make the room look like a night sky. "Wow...I didn't think it would look this good!" With child-like wonder, Eve gazed at the walls and ceiling, eyes and mouth wide with unusual amazement.

Shawn's eyes widened in surprise. "Wow, that definately worked out well." He said, taking a more comfortable seat in the fort. He stroked his chin. "This, this is awesome." He said with a smile, glancing around the tent. It actually started to shead some light on things, which was good. Shawn glanced at Eve.

Evangeline nodded as Shawn spoke, looking once more at the 'stars' before sitting beside the boy in the fort. She shifted around a bit until she found a comfortable position, then sighed, glancing around the basement-turned-galaxy. With a shy smile, Eve looked to Shawn, biting her lip. "Y'know...I've never had this much fun. Ever." Stifling a laugh, she moved slightly closer to him, glancing at the 'stars' with a wide-eyed gaze.

Shawn smiled weakly. Eve probably didn't have too much fun in her childhood, well maybe none at all. He felt sorry for her. "I'm glad you are," He said, looking around the basement. He rubbed at his wrists. "Y'know, Eve, I've realized that my life has been...more than I expected with you. I just want you to know that I'm always here for you, no matter what happens." He said, smiling.

Evangeline heard Shawn and blushed deeply, looking away from the boy in hopes that he wouldn't see it. Tucking her knees to her chest, she felt her stomach bubble up and flip, and she snuck a peek at Shawn. Biting her lip, Eve lowered her legs, looking to the boy shyly. "I've realized that...well, I can trust you. A guy." She shook her head, laughing slightly under her breath. "I know it sounds stupid, but...that's kind of a big deal for me. Before...hell, I could barely think of hugging a boy without getting sick." Smiling, she moved closer to Shawn, debating for a moment before gently pressing her lips to his.

Shawn smile grew gradually. "It makes me happy to know you trust me so much." He said, a blushing creeping up to his face. He returned the kiss, then looked at the ground. He let out a small laugh, the blush remaining on his face. "I still wonder how we never had any actual fights in the years..."

When Shawn spoke, Evangeline shrugged, leaning against him and looking to the 'stars'. "Maybe it's because we get our anger out during our Mario Kart battles." Giggling, she snuggled into the boy, when a noise at the very small window caught her attention. Glancing up in a flurry of panic, she saw a flicker of black, and whimpered. "U-Uhm...Sh-Shawn...was K-Keegan wearing b-black today...!?"

Shawn felt shivers go down his spine, and he rose to his feet, going towards the window. "Not really..." He said, peering outside into the dark. "I hope that's not who I think it is..." He said, his voice hoarse and rough. He reached for the pistol at Eve's side, and held it defensively. "Tell me if you see anything else, okay?" Shawn said, also looking out the window in panic.

(I think it'd be cool if like, Shawn goes, "Hey, do you smell gasoline?" o-O)

Evangeline watched Shawn cautiously, and nodded, though she was frozen to the spot. What would happen if her 'father' broke in? No doubt he'd have a weapon - a knife, perhaps a pistol - and no doubt a plan. What did she and Shawn have? A fort and make-believe stars. Evangeline forced herself up and stood silently, taking a tentative step toward the stairs. When she did, a foul stench hit her, and she narrowed her eyes in thought. It was familiar, but she couldn't put her finger on it. "Sh-Shawn, do you smell something...?"

Shawn covered his nose, smelling it shortly afterwards. "E-eve, we need to get out of here." He said, moving towards the basement door and attempting to open it. It was locked. He moved over to the window, and tried to pry it open. With no success, he kicked it, glass shattering onto the floor. He motioned for Eve to squeeze through. "C'mon!" He said frantically, seeing smoke creep under the door.
