Does anyone else's cat lick? My kitten Dexter licks me, constantly. If I sit or lay down he's right in my face licking me, I know its a sign of affection so I dont really want to discourage him but at the same time I wish he'd back off a bit. He was hand raised by me so I'm 'mum' in his eyes which doesn't help the constant affection and being glued to my side like a little dog. All my cats lick but he takes it to a whole new level.

Maisie licks my hands and face. She also does it to her favorite blankie so I guess it's just her way of saying "I love you."

She's definitely a mutt but just curious. Also her name is Bobby Joe, she's pretty cute and comes to you if you meow loudly

My cat Wynnie, who I've had since she was a kitten, has always had this cute little habit of licking my nose when I bring my face close to her.
The newest addition to the family, Pumpkin, will lick mine and my boyfriend's faces when she's in that cuddly purry mood that all kittens get in. She licks our faces, mainly, but will also lick fingers sometimes. Not really sure why she does the finger licking thing.
My oldest cat has an obsession with licking hands. I don't know why, it's the weirdest thing and she only developed the habit after we moved to this house. What's even weirder is she only does it when we're trying to sleep.

Ever since I got my haircut, my cat who is usually the most affectionate feline I have ever had, attacks my head in the middle of the night. He's done it for four nights straight so far. Twice, he growled while biting me, while the others were a silent lunge.
He's always so loving during the day. My haircut is obviously not to his liking. This is so peculiar.

Lately my family has been thinking about getting a pet. Everyone in my family excluding me wants a dog, and I want a cat. If we are going to get a cat, what kind of breeds do you recommend? I'd prefer something that's low maintenance since this is our first ever pet.

Alright, so today, we got a new member of the family. Dawn, a female, pure breed Burmese cat that is four years old. I'm a little worried about her because she can be very friendly, purring, and then suddenly bite. I'm afraid that she may have some sort of condition. Any suggestions as to how to stop this is appreciated. We're going to take her to the vet soon as well where we'll bring it up. I just want an idea of what may be causing this behavior, especially considering her breed.

If you were to get a pet cat, I recommend you to get the british short hair. They are affectionate without being clingy and enjoys curling up beside rather than being a lap cat. They are a healthy, hardy feline that matures slowly in three to five years. The short hair is also playful, alert and intelligent and is suitable with children. Although reserved with strangers, this breed quickly warms up when love is given in return. The British Shorthair is compact, well-balanced and powerful, with a short, dense, plush coat.

I'd suggest looking into cats that aren't kittens anymore. Go to a shelter and see what they have. Kittens are precious and all, but they can be a lot of work (and they can often have waay too much energy). While an adult cat is usually pretty chill.
