Up in the mountains where it's always cold, always snowing, and where prey is scarce. There lives two groups of wolves that can take on the harsh environment and conquer their enemies. The two groups of wolves have lived up north in the mountains ever since the first pack settled down by the frozen lake. Four wolves, the Alphas and Betas, had different ideas on how to run a pack. The alphas wanted everyone to be happy and enjoy life the way they wanted. They were lenient on rules and punishments, thinking all wolves are born with great potential and to reach that potential they must learn through their mistakes and from others around them. The betas on the other paw (pun intended) thought that rules need to be enforced and punishments must be enforced just as much as the rules when rules are broken. They wanted every wolf to earn their rank by working hard, by challenging one another, by doing more and more each day. So in secret the betas tried to train the young ones past their full potential, making them do more than they could. During this process, the betas began to think. What if we made our own pack and became alphas, bringing, or forcing others, along with us. And so, again, in secret. The betas wrangled up the strongest and most skilled wolves in the pack, and left the pack to form a new one. The newly formed pack wandered for a while until they found a place high up in the mountains to reside. For a long while, the two packs went on living life and leaving each other alone. But high up in the mountains the betas pack rapidly grew in numbers and skilled fighters. They wanted to show the pack by the lake that they were the best and were to be feared. So late one night, in the cover of darkness and snow, the mountain pack launched an ambush. For two days straight the packs fought one another, mountain pack sending down fighters whenever fighters were needed. Lake pack was outnumbered and loosing numbers fast. Mountain pack killed off the pups, young trainees, and elders, along with many adult wolves. They left only a healer and a few wolves. The leaders of mountain pack had killed off the leaders of Lake pack, leaving lake pack weak and vulnerable. For a long while lake pack was terrorized by mountain pack, having to hunt for them and even hand over pups. But the new alphas of Lake pack wouldn't have it. The started to refuse handing over food and pups, this angered mountain pack. They killed off the male alpha, threatening to kill off the female alpha next. So for years lake pack kept handing over prey and pups. But what mountain pack didn't know was lake pack had made an alliance with many of the outsiders, who also had many problems with mountain pack. Together lake pack and the outsiders retaliated and attacked mountain pack. With their new numbers, lake pack killed off many of the mountain pack wolves. The alphas faced off, only to have it end in an alliance. Lake pack would no longer hand over pups or prey. Mountain pack would no longer terrorize the outsiders or lake pack. But this didn't resolve ecerutging. The two packs still greatly hated one another though, with miner fights breaking out between wolves from each pack.

High Ranks

Alphas
These two wolves are the leaders and mates. They set the laws of the pack and enforce them how they want. The have the right to exile and banish wolves in their pack.

Betas
The Beta is the second in command and enforces the law when the current alpha is not present. If both of the alpha die than the betas take the alpha position and lead the pack.

Sentinel
There are four sentinels, two pairs, one for alpha and other events for beta. The alphas and betas train the sentinels to take their places if anything should happen to them. The sentinels don't usually have authority over the pack unless the alpha or beta have publicly given it to them. They are respected though. Messing with a sentinel is messing with the alphas and betas themselves.

Elders
The elders of the pack are seven years and older. They are filled with wisdom and renowned strength. They are the ones that the alphas normally go to for advice. If they are wise, the elders are the only ones to whom the alphas may submit themselves to. The are respected as much as the alphas by the entire pack.

Assassin
This position is given only to a Changer. Assassin is the most fitting name for this rank because it is self-explanatory. They are also spies for the pack. There can be a total of only three assassins in each pack.


Low Ranks
The lower ranked of the pack respect the higher ranked wolves and will ultimately submit themselves to the alphas and betas.

Lead Warrior
The lead warrior takes his/her orders directly from the alpha, and sometimes the beta. They are the main leader, general, or captain of the warriors in the pack. There is only one.

Warrior
The amount of warriors depends on the size of the pack. For a small pack there can be up to 5 and for a much larger pack there can be up 15. They are the guardians and protectors of the pack. The warriors will roam the pack lands ensuring it's safety. They are the ones that will keep watch at night. The warriors must be quick to think and remain calm in any given situation.

Lead Hunter
The lead hunter is the one who leads the hunts. There is only one lead hunter. Whoever becomes a hunter must be quick to think as well.

Hunters
Like the warriors the amount of hunters depend on the size of the pack. Every member of the pack hunts, but these are the main hunters.

Lead Scout
The lead scout is the leader of the scouts.

Scouts
The scouts are the scavengers of the pack. They will hunt small creatures and will help survey the land with the warriors.

Pup Watchers
These are the pup sitters of the pack. They will keep watch over the pups when the others may be out hunting or at battle. Don't be fooled into thinking that they are weak and soft. On the contrary the pup watchers can be the most vicious members of the pack, as long as you don't mess with their pups. They only watch pups up until the age of nine months. There is only up to about three pup watchers in a pack regardless of the size.

Subordinates
These are the non-ranked members of the pack. They will still participate in fighting and hunting though.

Omega
The omegas are the lowest of low in the pack, lower than the subordinates. Don't be surprised if they don't receive much respect if any at all. They are only placed in this position if they've done anything to disrespect the alpha. Sometimes a new member may be placed with this rank if the alpha is a bit mistrustful of them.

I guess your sniffer doesn't work if you didn't know you were on Mountain Packs land, the most feared pack up here in this unforgiving land. 1)Respect the higher ups, so the alphas, betas, sentinels, and leads.
2)Start a fight, you gotta finish it, no backing out and being a wimp.
3)What you catch is what you eat, so if you can't hunt, you're outta luck then
4)No hurting pups, we need them to become strong warriors, but give them pushes to do better than yesterday
5)We don't really care about you, so, if you die somehow or get lost or injured, again, you're outta luck

Borealis is the complete opposite of his sister. He's loud, he commanding, he's demanding, and he unforgiving and merciless. Most would think that he would be been put into to train as a warrior, but he was always best at hunting much like his sister, just much bigger things like elk, moose, ect.
