Ella streched then muttered ''I'm going outside for a few minutes Carter.you comin?''

"Nah, but be safe." he said. He opened the cage door and looked at the pup Maria was hiding. He picked it up and saw that its right eye was totally gray and cloudy.

Ella walked just outside the door to get fresh air getting a phone call from the nurse ''Hey Ella just wanted you to remember plenty water fresh air and rest.'' ''I know'' Ella replied ''Oh and I'm not welcome at home anymore so I slept at the shelter last night Carter let me Thanks but I have to go.'' Ella walked around outside but soon went back inside feeling refreshed she wasn't tired.

Carter examined the pup's eye a bit more and frowned. "Well, it doesn't look infected." he said, "I'd like to get it out of there before something happens." He set the pup down and let Maria nurse it.

Filya woke up. She smiled as she stretched, but it faded as she remembered.
flashback starts
"we'll hold them off! You two fly away, as fast as you can! Get to the other side of the river, we'll meet there!" two young Phoenixes fly off, one smaller than the other. The bigger one starts going ahead. "keep going Anlyon! We're almost past them!" suddenly there is a whoosh, and a scream. "Anlyon!" "keep going, I'll-" the voice gets cut off. The older Phoenix flies on, tears in her eyes. She screams as a bullet pierces her right wing, but keeps going, healing herself.

Filya lies crumpled on the ground, crying. Why do I have to remember this? She rocks, trying to calm down. She remembers other things.
Flashback begins
"mum? Dad? Where are you?" the young Phoenix is standing on the shore of a wide river. She looks around. No-one is there, no noise. The young Phoenixs eyes fill, then she turns away. "I have to find them." she whispers.

Filya stopped moving, tears streaming down her face. Why?

Hearing Carter speaking ''Is he going to take out the pups eye? Oh god no!''

[Boomer]

Carter looked to Ella. "Possibly, if it starts causing her problems." he said, "The structures in her eye isn't fully developed. And what little eye she has is gray." He watched Maria tuck the pup with her tail.

''Oh,'' Ella nodded ''I may go check on the other animals'' Heading out went to the cages saw Filya crying '' Whats wrong Filya?''

Carter nodded and sighed a little, hoping the pup didn't have to be put under for surgery. He got up and decided to give the nursing mothers their breakfast first.

Filya shook her head, annoyed a human had seen her like that. She couldn't stop the tears, though. "nothing." she managed to say. How could she understand? She didn't know them, didn't know her mothers love, didn't know her father's deep laugh, her brothers little jokes. She closed her eyes, wanting her tears to stop flowing.
