Toxic Nightshade wrote:Hi! My cat ingested garlic ten minutes ago, does anyone know how much is needed to make her sick and possibly die? I'm really worried. It was quite a lot. To make it worse, it was powder AND cooked.
A quick google search told me that you should get your cat to the vet ASAP. And that waiting for any symptoms to develop could be extremely dangerous for their health. Please get them checked out immediately!!
Most cases of toxicosis are attributed to a single episode of accidental ingestion of raw onion or feeding of foods containing onions or garlic. The toxic dose has been found to be as low as 5 g/kg in cats and 15 g/kg in dogs. A medium-sized onion (2 to 3¼” in diameter) is approximately 150 g, and the average weight of a garlic clove is 6 g.
in a vet educational resource.
More research tells me that opinions vary on the severity of (not large amounts of) garlic ingested, but I couldn't find much on cooked powder specifically. Still, please do get them checked out just in case.

@toxic nightshade, i agree with cataclasm. you should take your pet to the vet as soon as you can. in addition, this website is not an ideal place to get veterinary advice.

So my kitten Lilly likes to sleep hanging over the side of things; the back of the couch, arm of a chair, or in this picture, my headboard. She'll sleep like this for hours and it's so funny to see XD
