One day while you were getting the mail, you noticed a package with no return address shipped to you that said, "To be opened only by listed recipient." You opened the package and it was a new video game console with a video game. Strange thing is, you don't remember ordering it. But you're not one to pass up a chance to play a new video game. You hook the console up to your TV, insert the game and start it up. A computerized voice says, "Thank you for purchasing Dragon Ball Online. Please insert the Gamer ID card included in the package and create your avatar." You insert a blank ID card into a slot on the console and create your avatar. Once you confirm your avatar's creation, the screen goes black and red letters pop up that say, "Download Initializing..." The computerized voice returns and says "Download complete, game play initiated." Suddenly, you black out, and when you come to, you look exactly like the avatar you created for the game! The voice continues and says, "Allow me to explain, Dragon Ball Online is the result of an experimental virtual reality gaming console. You are being transferred into the game's online lobby, from where you can compete in ranked and practice matches against other players, play the game's main story, and many other things. I assume this is all very shocking, so if you have any questions, please ask them now." You ask the questions you have and the voice answers them all. Before the voice cuts off, it says "If you would like to quit the game, please do so by saying, 'Eject Gamer ID card.' Thank you, and enjoy your game!"

Human and Android names are puns on food in general, Saiyan names are puns on vegetables, Namekian names are puns on snails/slugs, or the names of instruments, Majin names are puns on magic phrases like Abracadabra, Bibidi Babidi Boo, etc., and Frieza race names are puns on the cold
Race Options
Earthling
All Earthlings have balanced stats, automatically regenerating Ki, and an attack that rises when maxed. Males' Strike Super Attacks are stronger than females, but females have stronger Ki Blast Super Attacks.
Frieza Race
These characters move quickly and has stamina that regenerates as you attack. Their health is low, though, and they get slower the weaker they get.
Majin
Majins Have high defense, which gets higher when they have max stamina. However, they have a slow stamina recovery. Males have higher health and defense, while females’ breaks are shorter and they have less health.
Namekian
(Male only)
Namekians have stamina that refills quickly, high health that regenerates when it gets low, and are better at using items, but they have low attack stats.
Saiyan
Saiyans have a high attack, which rises when their health gets low, but low health. All of their stats rise after they fall and are revived. Males’ melee attacks are stronger and buffs last longer, but have weaker Super Moves. Females have better Ki and Stamina recovery, and can use Z Assists more often, but have lower health than males.
Android
Androids have low ki, but high stamina and health. They have the ability to drain health from foes when their health gets low. Males have higher attack power, but lower speed. Females are much faster, but not as strong when attacking
