The final mine blew and Chayse was blasted back through the air, her ears ringing out from the shock waves in the massive explosion. She landed on the ground, the pack on her back not giving her any mercy as she slammed against the hard ground. A wave of hot air breathed over her and a puff of flames and black smoke drifted heavily into the red sky, polluting the fresh air. Chayse’s small body curled up, fighting for air; but only for a moment before she heard shouts from the other people. Her mind flipped, realizing that she only had a few seconds to escape the havoc that would soon begin. Straining her slim arms, Chayse heaved herself upright, reaching for her gun lying on the ground before crawling for a moment. Soon she was getting up into a standing position, running and stumbling a few times because of the after shock. She could feel a burn along her right thigh, tears welling up in her dark eyes as she ran.
There was an abrupt thud in front of her suddenly and she dug her heels into the snow covered ground, skidding to a stop. They had chased her down; hunted her when she ran away from the wreck. How could she be so stubborn? She had ran right through the light, not even trying to hide herself in the shadows. What a stupid, stupid, thing to do Chayse! She scolded herself. Her chest heaving and her thigh burning like crazy, she turned in a small circle, her gun raised. She hadn’t used the gun before as she had been sticking with her bow until she lost it back at the blast. Crack…The sound of a small twig snapping made Chayse’s head snap in the general direction. Her finger trembled on the trigger of the shotgun, unsure of what to do; pull it or lash out. She weighed up her options carefully, slowly, tossing each one over.
Option A: Pull the trigger and hope she hit the target. No, too greater risk of missing and being an easy target herself. Option B: Lead opponent into burning red light from the explosion for a quick glint, illuminating the attacker. Lash out with a side kick and palm to side of head. Risky but it could work, and she was willing to take that chance. This ‘game’ was lethal, take the risk or die. Hit and run. This was far different from her old life, walking through the forest with bow at hand, searching for any signs of danger, trying to find dinner for the night. She wasn’t meant to be there, it was all a mistake. Supposedly the original girl was hunting and they mistook her for Chayse and now she couldn’t get out of it. They thought she was someone else, they thought she was a gifted one. One of them. She wasn’t meant for this game. She didn’t even want to be in there to start with. The whole idea of this lethal event only gave someone power, power over everyone; and to do that they had to fight.

Plot//
The basic plotline of this roleplay is that these people were either chosen or mistaken for who they are. They can be chosen and have powers naturally making them one of the gifted or be mistaken who can't have powers but discovers them soon enough. You choose. The roleplay is set out in a event of which people are fighting to rule the land, chosen people determined and the mistaken confused but also determined. The chosen know their powers whereas the chosen can as well or they find out later in the roleplay. As you can tell, my character is Rue. Our first post will be about when they first get picked or first get mistaken and are on their way to the arena.

personality//
Chayse has always had that sort of dark part of her personality. Sarcastic and witty, she stands up for herself and what she believes in, but usually tends to stay out of things that she isn't a part of. She always remembers the one day she first decided to step down; to become silent. It was when she had people that she knew, fighting against her because of who she was. They almost thought she was dark. Chayse protested that she couldn't help who she was and it ended up in the only memory of her deceased mother, burning to a crisp. She realised that the more she tried, the more hurt she would become. So; she backed down. Became 'The Quiet Girl' as everyone started calling her. But when it was something she really wanted or needed, she would look at people with golden eyes and speak up. People often though of her as 'dark' because of her personality, but in an attempt to fit in, Chayse wore light clothes that complimented her eyes and hair. Eventually in high school, she managed to make her first friends, that she was going - well, hoping - to remember for the rest of her life. These people, Aza Lai, Jon Highland and William Thatch, were the reason she became a lighter person. She smiled and laughed her way through high school but at home, she was the same girl she was in primary. Chayse knew there was always something different about her that would never change. She was fiery, timid, witty, shy, quiet and a lot of other things.
Although her early life was a rough and raggid road, she picked up many hobbies on the way. Sketching became her main priority however. Songwriting came second and then painting, along with writing stories. They were the only lifeline that set apart her differences and made her apart of the crowd. Eventually, she became a slightly different person and her father started referring to her as "Two face" because of it. Sure she was still witty, fiery and other things but the other half of her was; well, a different person entirely. Chayse couldn't stand hurting someone, physically and mentally. She hated break-ups and she hated fights and always stood up for people in sticky situations. She liked to see the light and hated the darkness; the sun on her skin usually sent a electic shock through her body, making it tingle slightly. This was what truely set Chayse apart from the others. The others were either "pretty girls/boys" or "tomboys", a straight personality. But she was different, she liked who she was on one side and also the other. She liked how she could be nice but still stick up for herself and how she could smile on the outside but hide on the inside. As drawing things is her main priority, Chayse always has a pencil and paper near her. If she see's someone she likes, she draws them. If she see's a breathtaking object or landscape, she'll draw it. It's on of the things that pulled her through her problems and helped her through the treaturous years of schooling.
history//
Let's see, where did it all start for Chayse?
Well, it all started when she began middle school, when of course her mother was still alive and her parents had just adopted her brother Jacob. Jacob was always one of those kids that you felt sorry for yet, no matter how many times you apologized, he just smiled and waved his hand with a friendly "I do have a family though. They're standing right in front of me." Before they fostered him though, Chayse met him at school and they were instantly best friends. But no matter how many times she asked "where do you live?" he would just reply with "I'm not allowed to have kids over" which just made Chayse, and her family, curious and curiouser. But one day, she got a little too curious, which ended up in her sneaking out and following him after school. As she followed, she noticed he walked around...basically no-where. Like he had no home. Chayse kept following him until she came to a laundry mat and he walked inside, carrying his old school bag. She saw he had used his money on a bus trip but she didn't know that was it. Leaning over a tub, he soaked a shirt in water and then rung it dry. Next to him a lady started her washing machine and left to come back later. Smiling his shy smile, Jacob simply waited till she was gone and then opened the door to hers and threw his shirt in. At first, Chayse thought he was just being rude but then she realised that he had worn the shirt for 3 days in a row, like he didn't have any other apart from the one he was wearing. Like he only owned two shirts. She went home that day and told her parents what she had saw and they immediately went to him. They asked in their sweet voices where his home was and he said the same thing. Then they asked "Do you have a home?" and he said yes. They knew he was lying and made him confess - truth was, he was an orphan that no-one took in. Homeless and alone. The whole situation changed the Hunter family's life forever. Chayse's parents offered to take care of him for a few days until they knew what to do. They fed him, bought him new clothes, payed for his school and other things until they finally came to the decision to become his legal guardians. And then just like that, he was part of the family.
Soon after Jacob joined them, Chayse's mother Charlotte was diagnozed with cancer, putting another drastic change in her daughters life. The floor suddenly fell from beneath her and she was running away from everything. It's when she became known as 'The Quiet Girl" who rarely ever spoke to people. She was mysterious and slightly dark; and her grades were falling from a 'A' to a jaw dropping 'C-'. No-one knew what to do with her because basically, what could you do with a girl like Chayse? Take her to a doctor and have her tell all her emotions? No way, that was not Chayse. For about a year, Charlotte was sick, getting worse everyday and that was the part that wrenched the girls heart out of her chest. On the Boxing Day, when Jacob had just turned 15, three days earlier, they recieved news about their mother who had been away getting scans. She had passed away during the night and the doctors said there was no way they could have helped her. They also told them that her last words were "But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear ; do not be frightened. Take Courage." and then her eyes had slowly shut for the last time. Chayse has lived on those words for the rest of her life now. After her mothers funeral, everything went spiralling downhill. Chayse's attitude got worse and so did her schooling, making her even more depressed than ever before. Eventually after 3 months her Dad stood up with her brother and said, "That's it. You have to get over this, you have to pick yourself up. Mum's gone, but she's watching you form up there, praying you'll do well in life. She needs you to answer he prayers." Chayse didn't know what it was about those words, but something made her realise just how stubborn she was being. So within 5 months time, Chayse was known as "two face" and her grades were now a 'A-' and she was living her life like never before and making her friends, Aza Lai, Jon Highland and William Thatch. It was also the time when she took up drawing, the art soon becoming her deep passion. That wasn't her only passion however...
When she was eighteen, Chayse fell in love with her good friend, William. She knew they were only friends but in her eyes, the relationship was a little bit more. But she couldn't say the same for Will, as she had no idea what he felt. She had never gone out with a guy before let alone felt the way she did about him; so she didn't know what she was meant to do. She always remembers the one day when she and her friends were going to the movies. Aza called in sick and Jon was looking after her, so it was just Will and Chayse. She found it sort of odd in her opinion and was nervous. Then at the end of the movie, they walked outside and Wil turned and said to her, "Look, Chayse...I like you. Like really like you." She was shocked; she had been waiting for him to say that and now she knew. They dated for a month or two; maybe more, but it was all ruined when Chayse did the stupidest thing. It was one afternoon and Will came over to her, smiling and saying "Hi" before pulling her close. His face was close to hers, and Chayse simply fumbled around until she found his arms and loosened them before slowly backing away. Then she turned, and walked out of his life...
