haha yeah, it makes sense actually since the rarity tags only take raw rarity into account (there's nothing about how many pets are on active accounts but not for trade, demand, etc) and also cover wide ranges of rarities, but it's really tiring to try to get a feel for what's fair and what's not xD

It's definitely irritating orz I'm actually half-tempted to try to write some sort of scholarly analysis IRL about various aspects of CS if I ever get a chance to LOL I feel like CS is a victim of its own success, or maybe it's more like the CS userbase is a victim of CS's own success... You see a lot of behavior here that is analogous to the behavior of the general public/humanity IRL xD
Spread the word to end the word, because discrimination based on perceived or actual IQ/"intelligence" is no better than discrimination based on race, gender, etc.

Context, consistency, and clear antecedents are golden.

If you want to write this analysis I am totally down to help. I actually was thinking about writing my thesis on CS economics. "It's a victim of it's own success," is a great way to put it. :P

Time's moving too quickly D;

This! It's such a struggle for me to do this 2013 common is worth like 6 2016 commons. Like no, they're common and only from a few mon-- oh. It's been 3 years.

Same! And don't get me started on those first four 2nd Gen litters. The ones that could be adopted for like a year at a time... and Warrior Cats! Rainbow Drafts, and the original Butterfly wolves. And everything from October and November '08 except the Joker dog.

All were worthless. Seriously the stuff that clogged up the end of the Pound that nobody wanted.

What do they mean I have to cough up valuable pets for that stuff? These were the Adoption Center fodder for everyone.

Just can't get my head around those Rainbow Drafts being very rare.
And the October dogs and Card Litter. They were uncommon and nobody wanted them. Heck! I remember the Wood Dog litter being all Common and Very Common. Except the wood wing of course.

@Crestalia I'll keep that in mind LOL

@'Possum also, the first Malk Betas! Those were so common that as soon as people saw that I was hoarding them in late 2009, they just dumped a crapton of them onto me. I don't remember for sure, but I get the impression that the adoption limit was pretty darn high even for the number of outcomes in that "litter" because I don't know how else people were dumping 10-20 of them at a time onto me. People just didn't want the poor fishies--what, that's not true anymore? What do you mean I have to give the late 2009 dogs/early 2010 dogs that people actually wanted? D:

I don't remember much. Site layout really hasn't changed all that much other than all the different adoption pages

Hey I'm from 2010 (as it says to the right, haha) and heck yes I remember the old layout! I was SO UNCOMFORTABLE when they changed it! It was so weird. Now I like this better. I also remember the first summer event and how surprising it was! And when we only had a couple oekaki boards...
And the week without a friday. Haha that was insane!

I have reached the point I just don't try. I remember when people accepted rares/very rares in trades and now if it isn't a "list pet", no one wants it. I can't even get my hands on a false joker dog at this rate!
Regardless, although demand and such makes sense, the obsession over list pets makes me long for when "dream pets" were achievable.

(psst, if you were the last poster on a thread, you should edit your previous post instead of posting again unless the topic fell off the first page of its board ;))

At the rate I'm going in real life, I doubt I'd be able to do a real life paper analysis of CS, but I would very much like to do an informal analysis of things here on CS. But there are two problems:

1) I'd end up relying way too much on memory and anecdotes, and even though they're corroborated by many people, there's still the human element in them. On top of that, the picture I paint of modern CS might be inaccurate and/or it might cause even more extreme change than what we're already seeing, and I know that a) no one wants that and b) people have been trying for the past 3+ years to combat the extremities that we've been seeing

2) what is free time? lol ("it's the time you're using to type this and lurk on CS!" yeah, so like 15 minutes per day lolol)
