I'm just start to taking part in holibombs this year. I don't think I will sent many gifts this year due to my study but I'll try!

according to my terrible memory
this means "what do you call a cat fallen in a pot of paint on Christmas Eve? a painted christmas cat"

i'm seriously sorry if i misinterpreted this entire thign

I think you translated correctly but my French is rosty too lol
the pun probably is that Un chat peint de Noel sounds like un chapin de Noel as in a Christmas bunny? or chapin the Swiss-French word for Christmastree?

that's all I can add...
