Beavernose heard the familiar voice of Featherstar. She was calling for a meeting. He hurriedly put the herbs he was sorting away, sniffling as he exited the medicine cat den. He stifled a yawn and sat down on the pale sand, relishing the softness underpaw. He averted his gaze toward the High Stone where Featherstar sat, waiting for her clan to settle. I wonder what this is about.

Rabbitpaw was already in the hollow when she heard Featherstar call for a clan meeting. She pushed the half eaten shrew aside and stood, stretching each limb out in turn. The she-cat licked out her fur quickly and sat beneath the High Stone, watching Featherstar.

Darksky perked his ears. His grey-brown pelt groomed. Padded from the shadows of the camp, he gathered under High Stone and looked at his leader

"Today Rabbitpaw and Softpaw will be given mentors. I have chosen who I believe will teach them best." She meowed. Her gaze shifted to Darksky. "Darksky, you are a brave and strong warrior. You will mentor Softpaw." She anounced.

Rabbitpaw perked her ears. "Congratulations Softpaw!" she purred, then gazed back up at the leader. Who will my mentor be? she wondered, looking around at the warriors excitedly.

She smiled. "And for Rabbitpaw." She looked at Beachfur. "Beachfur, you are honest and trustworthy. You will be Rabbitpaw's mentor."

Beachfur purred. His first apprentice! He looked at Rabbitpaw, smiling.

Darksky padded over to his apprentice. "I will do my best." He vowed to his leader

Beavernose blinked happily. The more apprentices, the stronger the clan would be. He remembered the excitement of becoming a medicine cat apprentice; he bet it'd be even more exciting to become a warrior apprentice. He chuckled quietly to himself, but stopped when he heard his sister's name called. She got a mentor! He purred, and ran up to Rabbitpaw, nuzzling her cheek. "Good job Rabbitpaw! I'm so proud of you." His eyes gleamed.

Rabbitpaw looked over at her new mentor, Beachfur. Her paws were trembling from excitement, but she kept it hidden in her steady voice. "Thank you Featherstar." but it came out as a quiet squeak. Before she could walk over to stand by her mentor, Beavernose stopped her. Rabbitpaw purred quietly as her brother praised her.
She walked over to her new mentor, her paws scuffing the sand beneath her. "When do we start training?"

Darksky padded over to his apprentice. "I will do my best." He vowed to his leader

Softpaw smiled at him, her eyes shimmering with eagerness. I'll be the best apprentice EVER! Rabbitpaw will finally notice me...

He stalked back to his den, grabbing the herb piles and sorting through them, making a mental list of herbs he was running low on.
