story: "The Ghost in the Attic"
"Did you here that creaking noise coming from the attic? The one that made you worried and scared. You explained
it away, saying that it was just the house settling on this windy winter night. And maybe you were right. But may
be, just maybe, there's a ghost in your attic. Now, don't be frightened. I'm sure they're a lovely ghost who would n
ever harm a soul. But, where they aren't violent and angry, they are very sad. i'm not really certain what it is tha
t they're sad about, but I am certain that they are very sorrowful. Maybe they're crying about how little company-
they get? Or maybe they are just sad that they're dead.. Or perhaps they're mourning the loss of a child? The one-
whose wails end up in your dreams and haunt your days. You thought you were going crazy, didn't you. Thought yo
u were hearing things? After all, you don't have a child. But those sounds were always ghostly and inhuman.. they
would scare you a little, but you just ignored them. If you venture up to the attic, you might find yourself meetin
g face to face with a mourning ghost, the dust settling around you but through them. They might ask you if you've
seen their child, maybe they don't even realize that they're dead.. Do you think you can talk to them, calm them
down and tell them that they're dead, that their child is dead? Do you think you can tell them without making the
m angry? No? Then perhaps it would be better for you to live out your days in this house, listening to the mournin
g ghost and her wailing child, forever separated by time, by death.."
