Kimuret Lore | General World

Postby Soulsplosion » Mon Nov 21, 2016 10:12 am

▸ ▷ [Land of Keda] ◁ ◂
Keda--also referred to as "the mainland"--is the
name of the only large continent on Naviru.

[img]Map[/img]

▹ [Landscape] ◃
Plains: The Plains are where the Techs generally live; they consist of rolling hills,
temperate forests, and flat plains, with scattered Tech settlements and a few Rogue
camps. The Northern parts experience a cold winter, but the Southern parts do not.
Mountains/Valleys of Dairu: Great, rocky snow-capped mountains surrounding a
system of interlocked rainforest valleys. This is where Tribals most often live, and
Rogues don't usually come here unless with the intention of living a Tribal lifestyle.
Ruins: The whole continent is decorated with scattered, age-old ruins from
some lost ancient civilization. Different societies have different theories about
what happened to them, and no one knows for sure.

▹ [Creatures] ◃
Being an alien planet, Naviru has alien creature. For simplicity & relatable purposes, feel
free to refer to them by their Earthen counterparts. Here they are listed by placement on
the food chain; click the small image to see a larger reference. Besides each picture is
their Native name, Earthen name, relationship to Kims (enemy/peaceful), location, and
description.

Domen | Dinosaur | Peaceful | Valleys
Despite being the apex predator on Keda, Domen are no threat to Kims
due to the fact that they only eat large prey, and because Kimurets'
ancestors had a symbiotic relationship with Domen by picking off
parasites. Domen usually wander the forests with their families.
Cirocs | Crocodile | Predator | Valleys
Basically crocodiles, but bigger.
Image
Jagire
"Jaguar" | Predator | Valleys
These vicious beasts are the only remaining natural predators of Kimurets, though they also eat Sivopes. They're about 4 times the size of Kimurets, with jet-black fur except for faint stripes, a long whip-like tail, split fingers for climbing and large eye-mimic markings in their ears (which they raise to intimidate). Their only predator is the Domen (and Cirocs, if they're unlucky).
================================================================================================
Weld | Wolf | Predator | Plains (can wander into valleys)
A gray-brown thing that looks like a physical hybrid between a wolf and
a fox. They have large ears, long shaggy tails, long whiskers, and their
colors are similar to a timberwolf. They hunt in packs of 3-5.
Sivope | Antelope | Peaceful | Valleys
Black antelope-like creatures with white bellies. They have small horns
and no hooves, but rather 3 hard toes. Eaten by Jagires.
Devi(pl-Devu) | Deer | Peaceful | Plains
Deer-like creatures that may be sandish-colored in the plains and brown
in the forest. The main prey of Welds. They have spiral antlers and
3 hard toes instead of hooves.
Visks | Frog/Salamander | Peaceful | Everywhere
Salamander-like things that take the place of frogs on the food chain,
but rely on camouflage rather than jumping. They hide in the mud
and while they're harmless to Kims, can be quite a surprise.
Misc | Other Animals | Peaceful | Everywhere
Naviru is populated by birds, rabbits, fish, bugs and rodents. Except
for the lack of flightless birds, they all function a lot like Earth.

Kimuret Lore | Tech Society

Postby Soulsplosion » Mon Nov 21, 2016 10:13 am

▸ ▷ [Tech Society] ◁ ◂
WIP SUMMARY
Techs are Kimurs that live in cities (or suburban/rural areas) like humans do. It's basically the 'anthro' world. Imagine humans but as monkeys. Techs have a lot more variety than Tribals due to higher populations, and so their opinions/beliefs can vary greatly.

▹ [Lifestyle] ◃
Techs live virtually like humans. Imagine this as the anthro AU but it's the same universe. They can live in cities, or can live on rural farms; like humans, they work in jobs and careers as they go about their normal day. Attacks by wild animals is nigh impossible, but Welds/Wolves pose a real threat to rural areas.
▹ [Jobs] ◃
Basically assume any job a human can get. They can be artisans, authors, bakers, farmers, etc, you name it. There are a few exceptions, due to differences in their society compared to ours; for example, they don't really have 'tailors' or things like that, because they don't usually wear clothes; being frugivorous, they don't eat meat, but have a few animal farms for feeding pets or zoo animals.
▹ [Culture] ◃
Like humans, Techs can have a wide variety of characters--unlike Tribals, they don't share such an automatic bond with their peers. Typically, Techs pursue technology and science as their name suggests, but may be religious/spiritual, with some citizens even seeking Tribal beliefs (however, this usually requires some altering, since Tribal beliefs condemn living in the cities). Techs don't have a uniform opinion on anything, and while some are kind to Tribals, others may not be so accepting of them. They are a lot like modern society, with many people living different ways in the same place.
▹ [Family Life] ◃
Tech kits will stay with their parents for a long time, living in their home until they've passed their levels of school and are ready to move out. They will then get a job, home, and family (if they want) of their own. They will generally acquire one spouse whom they will marry.

Kimuret Lore | Tribal Society

Postby Soulsplosion » Mon Nov 21, 2016 10:13 am

▸ ▷ [Tribal Society] ◁ ◂
WIP SUMMARY
Tribals are Kimurs that live solely in the valleys to the Eastern end of the continent. They sleep in nests in trees made of branches and leaves, use primitive tools (such as spears) and live in small, tightly-knit social groups. They generally do not leave the valleys due to religious values, and are merciful, peaceful forest hippies who sometimes fight giant cats.

▹ [Lifestyle] ◃
Tribal Kimurs live in nests in the trees made of branches and plants; they try to avoid the ground unless for water (predators). They use very primitive tools, such as spears.
Warriors and medics are highly prized to fight disease and predation; however, predator attacks are luckily rare (but still deadly), so they usually spend their time hanging out, exploring and having fun.
▹ [Culture] ◃
Tribals live in the Valley of Dairu--in the native language, Dairu means Harmony.
Like the valley's name suggests, they're generally peaceful creatures who don't believe in fighting unless absolutely necessary. They are generally merciful to their enemies, even the Jaguars that hunt them. Every Tribal is equal, and they'll help each other out, even the old and sick; they can have ranks such as warriors, medics, food-gatherers, etc. Each tribe generally has 1 leader who takes the call when needed.
Some tribes can be malevolent, but these are considered Rogue Tribes.
▹ [Family Life] ◃
Mates live together in the same large den/nest. Parents raise their kits equally, and the kits will stay for a few months before they will move to live with their Mentor whom will tutor them in whatever rank they strive to have. Tribal Kits leave their parents much earlier than Tech Kits, but this is because they don't go far--they're just a branch away.
▹ [Gods] ◃
Tribals may believe in several gods or spirits (each basic--rain gods, protection gods, etc). These can vary per tribe, but the main deity they prize above all others is the Firebreather--or the Gorx-Garu (He Who Throws Holy Flame).
His depictions in ruins tends to vary, but he's essentially a massive magma dragon with molten lava dripping from his jaws. As Guardian of the planet, he is said to hibernate in the center of it until needed. According to Tribal legend, Kimurets once lived everywhere and dominated Nature--but they were cruel, to each other, the world they relied on and the creatures they lived with. Infuriated by their gluttony and pitiless greed, the Firebreather arose and destroyed the entire civilization, leaving scattered ruins across Keda. He took the few kind-hearted creatures that remained and banished them to the jungles, never to leave the Valleys and harm their planet again. For this reason, Tribal Kimurets often refuse to leave the valley--not out of fear of, but respect for their god and his demands. Some even doubt a world even exists outside the valleys.
▹ [Key Beliefs] ◃
▸Be kind to those who are kind to you
▸Hurt no creature unless for survival. Help those that you can, even enemies. Find pity.
▸If bad things happen to you, your Aura must be tainted; meditate/seek answers to solve it
▸Do not traverse on another Tribe's territories.
▸Do not ever leave the valleys.
▸Speak no ill of spirits.
▸Do not pursue the strange lifestyle & inventions of Techs (but respect them nonetheless).

Kimuret Lore | Rogue Society

Postby Soulsplosion » Mon Nov 21, 2016 10:14 am

▸ ▷ [Kimuret Adopts] ◁ ◂
WIP SUMMARY
Rogues basically exist to allow people to take part in the Lore world without being 100% confined by the Lore. A "Rogue" is basically an Kim with major beliefs that don't abide by the lore of their society (e.g. a Tribal who does not believe in the Gorx-Garu, or a Tech citizen who does).
Rogues can live anywhere. In Tech society, they can live as normal citizens, just practicing their own subculture(s) as they go about the day; in Tribals, due to the close-knit social groups, Rogues are generally better off forming Rogue Tribes of like-minded individuals. Rogue Clans also exist which can consist of members from either society, living together and fusing their cultures in their own way (and/or mixing it with unique cultural concepts).
Basically, if you want your Kim to take part in the Lore World but don't like the rules of either society, make them a Rogue and do what you want.

Re: Kimuret Adopts | Lore Thread (WIP) a sketch a day

▸ ▷ [Native Language] ◁ ◂
*This is all extremely optional and I just like to overthink things to the extreme
Technically, Tribals and Techs should speak different languages, but that is very confusing so have this alternate history
During the times of the Ancients (whom lived in the now-decimated ruins), 2 languages were spoken. One of them became the frequent language spoken by all levels of society, while the other fell into disuse except for occasional references--this 'dead' language is known as the Native Language, and Tribals generally use it more than Techs.

▹ [Dairu] ◃
"Dairu" is typically translated as "harmony", though this isn't entirely accurate. Tribals generally believe in a spiritual energy, sort of like an Aura, that perpetuates all things. "Dairu" refers to when this energy is positively enforced with emotions of peace and love. So, more accurately, the Valley of Dairu is not the Valley of Harmony but the "Valley of Good Vibes".
▹ [Gorx-Garu] ◃
"Gorx-Garu" is simply translated in the modern language as "Firebreather" or "He who throws holy flame", but a strictly accurate translation would be "holy destroyer", or "one who destroys for good reason". "Gorx" refers to a force that destroys--this is often a name given to fire, being that it is a very destructive force, but is also a term given to evil-doers and barbarians and is generally used in negative context. However, "Garu" is an adjective meaning something along the lines of 'holy' or 'divine'. Together, "Gorx-Garu" refers to a force that destroys, but does so for divine reason. In Tribal legend, the Gorx-Garu is known for destroying an entire civilization because it was corrupt and evil.
▹ [Domen] ◃
"Domen" refers to the Allosaurus-like apex predators that wander the Jungles in the Valley of Dairu. For the most part, it is just a name, but due to the relationship of Domen with Kimurets, it can have a few other meanings. Despite being at the top of the food chain, Domen only eat large prey and don't kill Kimurets; in fact, Kimurets' ancestors once had a symbiotic relationship with the Domen by cleaning their scales of parasites. Though this relationship has fallen out of evolution, Domen still have the instincts to welcome Kimurets. This causes them to be creatures that tribal Kims often look up to spiritually as their protectors: Giant beasts who kill and eat their enemies. Because of this, "Domen" could also be a name given to a powerful Kim whom is known to do great things to protect other Kimurets; great leaders are often referred to as having the "spirit of a Domen".
