During a trade, if someone says 'no suggestions' or 'I take suggestions', what does that mean?! What exactly is a suggestion?

During a trade instead of offering a direct trade, there is an option to choose to send a suggestion. It means that they have to edit before sending it back as a direct trade or another suggestion. You can not accept suggestions while one can accept direct trades. Hopefully that makes sense If not, I can show you some pictures of what I mean.
