Willowpaw followed her mentor, blissfully unaware of that fact that Thrushleap was kitting at that very moment.

"I'll get Fallenleaf!" Cloudtuft meowed quickly, heaving herself to her paws. Though she was just as heavy as her sister at the moment, she could still walk. She wasn't about to give birth. "Fallenleaf! Help!"

They neared camp and the tortoiseshell saw the entrance come into view. An odd feeling washed over her, as if telling her she should hurry. Fallenleaf wasn't sure what to think about it, but she listened anyways and quicker her casual walking to a fast trot. Any faster and she might lose her herbs. The tortoiseshell ducked into camp, right as she heard her name being yowled. Instead of bringing her herbs to the medicine cat den, she brought them with her to the nursery. "When did you start kitting?" Fallenleaf asked after she had set the herb bundle down at her paws.

Dawnpaw followed Willowpaw, standing near the entrance to the nursery as she watched.

Willowpaw ran after her mentor, heart racing. She sat behind Fallenleaf as she watched, half panicking and half excited that she would get to see her first kitting as a medicine cat apprentice.

Lightcloud stood outside the nursery, ears perked eagerly. "Darksky! Did you hear the news?" she asked in excitement, practically bouncing on her paws. "Thrushleap is kitting!"

Darksky purred and gently bumped her with his shoulder. "Calm down. Yelling won't make her kits come faster," he huffed and plopped down next to her.

Thrushleap took a few quick breaths, wincing. "A-about.. two minutes ago," she panted.

She nodded and placed a few raspberry leaves next to Thrushleap's muzzle. "If the pain gets too much for you to handle, eat those. They'll help reduce the pain. Willowpaw, put your paw on her flank. Thats how you can tell the kits are coming and how fast," Fallenleaf said, her flicking tail tip the only thing betraying how nervous she actually was. Last time she had delivered a queen's kits, Kestrelfeather had been with her to supervise. Now she had to teach an apprentice. It was both exhilarating and terrifying all at once. But she could do it. Her mentor had believed in her and so she would believe in herself. (Fade to black?)

Wolf trudges through the woods, the young cats underpaw. She lowered her head in determination- she would get her adopted sisters somewhere safe. Wolf's step faltered as she realized there may no longer be anywhere safe. The gray she-cat shook her head, as if shaking the thought from her mind. She would find somewhere.

Fox forges ahead, calling to her sister, Fern, to keep up. She had no fears about her future, she trusted Wolf to keep them safe. "Hurry up, Fern!" She hollered, turning around. The second her eyes left the path in front of her, however, Fox was on the ground, legs splayed in all directions. "Oof."

Fern came rushing up. "Shh!" She whispered, then caught up with her downed sister, who was laying on the ground like an injured bird. "Stand up, bird-brain!" She teased her sister warmly, her eyes glittering with laughter. Then she caught a strange scent on the wind. Strange cats, lots of them.

Unbeknownst to the three sisters, they had reached the DuskClan border.
