Tons of cats are always coming to my house, I usually feed them and give them water. Other than that I don't know what to do with them. They usually leave within a day though. Should I bring them to the shelter? (I volunteer so I can bring them my self) I don't really know what to do, please help!!!

Definitely take them to the shelter, especially if they aren't spayed or neutered. They'll be much happier and healthier once they're checked over and fixed.

I have two cats: Big Kitty and Tricky.
Big Kitty is about 14 years old, and Tricky is about 9-10.

Big Kitty is basically a fat, lazy cat. Grumpy, but not mean. He's more my mom's cat. He doesn't like people much and doesn't like to be held. But if you pet him without picking him up, he'll be happy.

Tricky is definitely my cat. He's the sweetest cat you'll ever meet. He loves everyone he meets, even complete strangers and other animals. He always comes when I call him, and he loves to sleep on my face. He loves me more than anything else, I'm his entire world. Sometimes, my mom will be petting him and he'll be so happy, but when I call his name, he instantly abandons her to come to me. Also, he follows me around everywhere like a puppy.

Hopefully I get to look after some kittens next week! Someone came in this afternoon at work as they had found the 2 poor kittens, only days old, in a bag hanging from a tree! How can people do that! The other nurses and I are going to take turns in taking them home and looking after them, hopefully they will survive. We currently have a stray mother cat and kittens she is still nursing but they all have possible cat flu so we can't try to get her to adopt them at the moment... The poor babies!

I'm thinking my 2 year old cat may have behavioral issues. He's a very sweet cat, but there are some problems. He was found on the streets when he was almost an adult, and that's when he was neutered. He was introduced to our older cat very slowly, but he likes to play too rough. We used to always find scratches on our older cat. He can be quite the bully to our timid older cat as well. He also suckles on blankets, so he may have been weaned too early. I don't know his history before 8 months of age. But this is the main problem. He bites hard. He always holds down the other cats before grooming them. It confuses my other cats, and makes them think he wants to play or fight. So he gets annoyed and starts fighting with them. From there, it turns into a full blown fight. He also will do this to me. Once, I let him do it to see what would happen. He chomped down hard on my arm for around 10 seconds or so. Then he started grooming me. Now, if he bites me, I'll say nothing and get up and walk away. I won't give him positive or negative attention. He also randomly attacks if he's in a bad mood. If you pet him even slightly the wrong way, he will attack without warning. Has anyone else had these problems? I just don't know if the biting is fixable. I feel like I've tried everything with him. Any ideas?

Millie's come back! She acted like nothing even happened, but she was very very hungry and thirsty.

I think it would be best to take him into a vet. They would be able to determine if he has a behavioral problem, and help you get it under control. Some cats can have chemical imbalances that causes them to be overstimulated very easily, so that could be it. If that's the case, the vet can prescribe medication that will even him out.

@Flossie That's great, I'm glad she's home! Maybe she was off having an adventure.

It definitely sounds like a behaviour problem to me, and when you add the suckling thing to it it makes me think he ended up being separated from his family at a young age and didn't get enough social contact. He just sounds like he doesn't understand how to socialize. How long have you had him? It might be something he'll figure out with time. I'd suggest doing some monitored interactions between him and other cats, and tell him off when he's too rough. Hopefully he'll figure out the right way to interact eventually.

Additionally, if he's scratching your other cats I'd try and cut his claws more. You can't always catch him playing rough, but if his claws are dull he's not going to draw blood.

Vet is always a good idea too.

Do any of you have any strong opinions on nail/claw covers/caps?
I will be getting a cat while living in a rented apartment, and I don't really want to have to deal with the repercussions of cat scratching/damages (I have gotten burned on it before, It was completely bogus, but I just don't want to deal with it again)
I am completely against de-clawing, but I have seen quite a few mixed messages on the claw covers.
