I just want to pop in to say that I really like Takura's idea of writing/art in exchange for tokens. I think it would be a great way to encourage people to be more active with their vaikis and develop them more ^-^

What are your thoughts on being able to get tokens/items outside of events?
I personally think we should be able to get tokens, but not make it too easy so the items stay of value.
What ways could users earn tokens? Should people be able to buy them with dA points/other currencies, or only for participating in the community?
I think 5-10 for Honorable Mentions when RU's aren't given out.
5 tokens for every 10 posts on the fanclub?
Regarding what was said, I would say that whaterever is decided for the tokens, if they were to be given out like these, they would be a "starting now" type things, so people don't go digging up all 100s of posts and HMs.
I don't like the idea of buying them because you will need to a max limit of purchasing of each item per month, or a high price on tokens to prevent so many customs from coming in and every breeding using pink & red cookies.

    - Takura's idea seems nice, but I don't fully get how it would work.

Sounds cool! I'd be up for it!

I would say that you have to participate in the community to earn them. You could earn them by creating content for vaikis (giftlines, RP opportunites, giftart for others, writing etc...). People who age vaikis could also earn small amounts of tokens as a sort of 'payment' for the agings they do.
A honorable mentions system sounds like it would be too hard to implement and keep track of (another archive to take care of...) and can be too easily exploited by people who want 'semi custom' vaikis without buying a myo or custom :/
Back at it again lads 😳😳

I'd like to add on to what I said oop
I agree with buny/fishwolf that an HM system wouldve been better implemented earlier on in the species. As of now it'd be way too much of a mess to track down HMs for over three hundred vaikis, so I would have to say no to the HM system uvu
I also agree with the proposition of people who age vaikis getting a lil bit of token payment for their work ovo/

plz don't take this the wrong way and I don't want to upset ppl but what if your's can't create art or have alot of confidace in there writing skills cause then it be very difficult for some to get tokens without waiting for a event. But also maybe elaborate on writing idea, cause I'm trying to think of how that could work cause It seems like a cool idea but what kind of wrting? I also like the idea for people who age vaikis getting a lil bit of token payment for their work.

What are your thoughts on being able to get tokens/items outside of events?
I'm alright with the idea! My main concern would be MYO/custom limits. Any ideas on what they would be, exactly? I don't care for a hard cap, like an absolute 'You can have a maximum of x MYOs, period", but I'd be more cool with a soft limit of "You can only purchase one MYO token every x weeks/months/etc." or "You can only purchase x MYO tokens outside of events, but ones earned during events are fair game".
I feel like a hard, absolute cap would be kind of awkward if someone were to have obtained more tokens for MYOs than the cap allows though events and the store before it was implemented, and if someone earned a token through an event raffle like I have but had full MYO/custom slots, it seems kind of unfair for them to have to just not be allowed to use it, if that makes sense? Not to mention if someone were to use a MYO token but then later gift or put the Vaiki up for adoption - There'd be a whole issue of 'Do they get to purchase another token since they gave up one of them, or is that it?' But with a soft cap, it would be able to limit the number of MYOs and Customs entering the community without completely cutting off availability after a certain point. Alternatively, maybe have a cap for the number of MYOs a person can own, but have another expensive item allowing them to permanently increase the number of MYOs/customs - Possibly increasing in price with each extra slot purchased? That way they could still get their MYOs, but once they reach a certain point, they have to work harder to get more.
Idk, I just feel like hard caps being suddenly introduced to things that have been around uncapped prior can be awkward, you know? Something like that happened recently on another site I'm on - Bank interest was suddenly capped at a maximum of 100,000 currency a day, which wasn't really much on that site's economy, and people who had previously been getting more or hadn't yet but we're working towards that point sort of lowkey rioted until the interest system was changed, lol. It ended up being decided on that the more money in the bank you had, the lower the interest rate would go - That way those with more weren't punished and prevented from earning more entirely, but they still had to work harder to get what they wanted.

What ways could users earn tokens? Should people be able to buy them with dA points/other currencies, or only for participating in the community?
I like the idea of earning them through art/writing/other creative endeavors, as has been done for previous events! A reward for posting in the fanclub sounds like it could work, too - Help keep the species active and all! Those who do aging and transfers being rewarded for their work would be nice as well~
As far as purchasing for C$ and offsite currency goes, though, I feel like it's a bit less fair - Those who are richer on other sites or in real life could just buy their way to victory without caps, you know? Imagine if someone were to spend, say, $20 on DA points and then trade them all for Vaiki currency. It's a little unfair for those who aren't as well off monetarily, and who would have to work on art for a month to get the same amount, I guess? Plus it would oversaturate the market, lol. That being said, private, user to user currency trades would be alright in my eyes, because one way or another users would have to work towards getting the tokens to trade in the first place beyond just spending a few bucks on points and buying their way to all the potions and cookies and tufts and paints and whatnot they could ever want, haha.

Sorry if some of that didn't make sense or if I missed anything - I have a bit of a headache right now and haven't been sleeping well lately xD Lemme know if there's anything I need to clarify, and I'll do my best :0c

And now, a couple of my own questions for everyone in the community:

Code: Select all
With the tryouts up and running, are you planning on trying for an artist position? Why or why not?
With the Halloween season just wrapping up, it's about time to ask - What did you and your Vaikis do for Halloween? Any favorite candies, cool costumes, or spooky movie marathons?
Additionally, American Thanksgiving is coming up quickly - What are you and your Vaikis thankful for?
You know what else is coming up fairly soon? My birthday! (And Christmas, I guess :p) When are your Vaikis' birthdays, and what do they want for them and/or Christmas, if they celebrate?

Okayyy, time to answer some questions while I have an inkling of time - next time I post I'll actually respond to some people and get some replies out

What are your thoughts on being able to get tokens/items outside of events?
I think it would be interesting, but I feel that keeping them only available during certain times makes them more valuable. Maybe if it was a one week/weekend a month that they're available? I just know that with certain items, I don't have any need/desire to purchase or use them so my tokens aren't being put to use yet. I just think that making the tokens too available makes them too worthless. If we increase the amount they're given out, there'd have to be an inflation kind of thing, items would have to be worth more tokens.

What ways could users earn tokens? Should people be able to buy them with dA points/other currencies, or only for participating in the community?
I don't support the DA/CS currency exchange idea mainly because it makes the tokens easier to acquire which refers to my argument in the previous question. I mean, the currencies aren't available to everyone either, so it would create a greater gap between people who can afford whatever and those who cannot. If there was a purchase cap, it could work.
I do support the idea of drawing and writing for tokens, keeping my last ideas in mind, but I think it would be best if we got more than just gee to judge/rate them. I just don't want to worry about getting millions of things to grade all at once or have a lot of work for gee. If we broke it up between a couple of designated judges, it could go by faster.
Also, for those who mainly buy as opposed to draw art, maybe there could be an art point for acquired art? Like, if you bought the art instead of drew it, it would be worth half the normal points. Or, we could leave out otherwise acquired art in general for simplicity's sake.

Overall, my view on this is that adding more opportunities to earn/spend tokens certainly makes things more interesting at first, but it makes things more complex and I think in the long run we'll get a lot of built up tokens that we don't know what to spend on after a while. Keeping them saved for events makes them more rewarding and valuable.

With the tryouts up and running, are you planning on trying for an artist position? Why or why not?
Yeeeess??? I'd love to try out, but my Oekaki doesn't work, my tablet has been acting up in general, and I honest-to-goodness haven't designed a thing for a year.
I'd actually be more interested in trying out to be a nursery artist.

TOtally want to answer, running out of time, I will edit or repost later!

What are your thoughts on being able to get tokens/items outside of events?
I think it would be a nice idea, but hard to pull off, considering if it's too easy to get tokens, it would be way too easy to get items, there would be no value left in them as others have said before. Personally, I like the idea of them being events only, it gives something to look forward to during the holidays, and it's fun to participate in the activities for a chance at being able to buy something!~

What ways could users earn tokens? Should people be able to buy them with dA points/other currencies, or only for participating in the community?
I agree with the suggestion of art and writing! Judges would be nice too, but you'd have to make sure they aren't bias or too easy going, y'know? It shouldn't be too easy to gain tokens, for the same reason as above, of overusing items.

With the tryouts up and running, are you planning on trying for an artist position? Why or why not?
Yep!! I've already made a couple entries, I like the idea of holding contests for a character, seeing what others would think of! I like to learn about diverse personalities, how they would fit together, I also really like designing and making others happy, if I could find a way to do that, I'm willing to put in an effort! <33

With the Halloween season just wrapping up, it's about time to ask - What did you and your Vaikis do for Halloween? Any favorite candies, cool costumes, or spooky movie marathons?
mY dwarf army family spent a lot of the time at stores, and we often had to ask for help to reach shelves because we aren't the tallest people around!
Akira really likes gum, for both the prank possibilities and just the constant rhythm of chewing on it.
Kii likes caramels, any kind is perfect to her!
Fiesh doesn't really care for candy, he would rather stick to his chips~
Kentie loves pocky, it's simple to eat and it doesn't usually leave a mess on his projects.
Queeki loves swedish fish~ They remind her of her pet fish!
Hybri really loves gummy bears, but he won't tell anyone that~ shhhh!~
Ziah loves any kind of star shaped candy, she absolutely adores them.
Shieva craves Rock Candy, her love for it having gone..over board.

Additionally, American Thanksgiving is coming up quickly - What are you and your Vaikis thankful for?
We're all thankful for each other, even though some of them won't admit it.

//Didn't have time to answer the last question properly! I'll try to answer it next time I post hopefully!~
quitting !!

running off of what koi just did xD
@koi
Hot diggety dang if I had any male vaikis suitable I'd be offering them up in a heartbeat, he is absolutely stunning! Congrats! Will probably be sending friendship offers, though :0

My vaikis are also open for relationships! You can see most relationship statuses on each of their pages, and you can find all of them here Kitta is only tentatively up for a relationship. And the youngsters (Cyanea {dwarf} and her sister Formosa {full size}) are both open to childhood crushes/friends. all of my other vaikis are grown even though some may still have their baby refs on the page ^-^ Most have their personalities on their pages as well, and if they don't feel free to pm me to ask!
