I have a red short collar but I want a long collar ( any color ). What should I add to get the long collar?

You would need to add another good short collar (blue, purple, or red), or the equivalent of a short collar, such as two long wrists or 8-10 den betas.

That's pretty much what I had to pay for mine. I traded a yellow long collar, a black long wrist, a black and white top hat, plus a bunch of the older promo items. So at this point, yes, you would likely have to trade a purple long collar for them.
