It's not everyday that the magic users of this peculiar w-
orld stumble upon a familiarium, or more commonly ref-
ered to as a varmint. Yet the powers that these creatures
hold necessary for a young magic user. Without their abili-
ties to bond and share the abilities of these unique crea-
tures, they would be looked at as average humans.

One of the biggest things separating this species from the other humans, is there ability to create bonds with
varmint, and thus strengthening the creatures power for both of them and enabling the pair to use it. Both p-
artners must be present in order for this power to be used. However only the Magos can create these bonds.
If the magic user who is trying to create a bond with a varmint has not been taught how to do so, then the t-
wo will be unable to bond.

• There are two types of bonds that a Magos and varmint can form

• Familiarium : This is a bond maybe between a magos and varmint when the two intend to
  form a partnership and work together with one another. It is viewed and often referred to
  as the " permanent bond ", but can be broken if necessary.
  
• procul : A procul bond or " temporary bond " is a bond made between a magic user and
  varmint that is not their familiarium or is in addition to that bond. Like the nickname for
  this bond implies, it will not last forever and typically the bond while break after an hour.
  But this bond is good in sticky situations when a magos's familiarium may not be present.
  The power shared when using a procul bond is more times then not less powerful then the
  power shared between magos and familiarium.

• Procul bonds are created by the magos and varmint touching foreheads while the magos thinks
  the phrase " nihil certum tantummodo inimici distant [ name ]". If the varmint is unable to hear
  there name being said to them in their head by the magos then the bond was not complete. The
  varmints symbol must also appear on the magus's wrist. Both of these are also true for the bond
  of a familiarium and magic user, though they must instead recite " Una faciet iuxta hanc pugnam
  mundum veni mecum familiariter [ name ]", and rather the symbol appearing on the wrist of the
  magos, it will be directly over their heart.

Varmint are creatures possessing powerful magic. They are able to use these powers to a small extent on their own,
for example a varmint with fire abilities may be able to light fire or ect. Once they've formed a with bond with a
magos is when they are able to use their power to a much high degree.

• Most varmint have elemental abilities, but their powers can vary, and it isn't uncommon for them to
  up to three different powers. The strength of their abilities is never over the top though.

• Each varmint has a symbol of some kind that appears on the skin of a magic user that they are
  bonded with to show that they are sharing their powers with that person.

Every Varmint has the abilities to take on an animal form whether they are bonded with a magos or not. There an-
imal forms are usually not to big to enable it to be easier for the creature to go unnoticed if they are ever in dang-
erous situation, but on occasion they will have larger animal forms.

• The human forms of varmint have indication making it apparent to magos that they aren't human, so
  it's a little easier to find a partner despite varmint being so rare. ex. little fangs, pointed ears ect.
  
• Most varmint have an action of some kind that will trigger a forceful change into their animal forms,
  such as sneezing, yawning, ect.

vagabond : Most Varmint are born from two varmint. But their are those who are half blooded, born from one var-
mint and either a human or magos. The prior of the two, one with a varmint parent and a human parent, have the
potential to become an uncontrollable creature referred to as vagabond.

• the vagabond forms are creatures are usual creatures similar to the varmints animal form or have p-
  owers that relate to them. Ex. dog animal form may be a Cerberus/hellhound vagabond
  
• They CAN NOT turn into these forms at will! Even if they have formed a bond with a magos. Becoming
  a vagabond is avoided at all costs, since they can cause a lot of destruction if they aren't taken care of.
  The transformation is triggered by an event usually called " the tarnishment " that will cause a drastic
  change in the varmint emotional state. [ always a negative one ] They can also be cause by the half bl-
  ood not having a magos for a VERY extended period of time. Only magos have the ability to calm a va-
  rmint once they have entered this state.

Calronia Academy is a school attended by Magos, and their varmint if they have formed a bond. Varmint are known
to attend the academy on their own before forming a bond from time to time, but it's not a very common sight to
see. Here at the school students are taught more about their bonds and how to from them, as well as how to use t-
he abilities that bonds give them, and of course a few usual courses such as literature, history, science, etc.

• Teachers at the academy you guys can use sensei, professor or whatever you'd prefer to.

• Amemori : A magos teacher at the school, who teaches students mainly about bonds and how
  they work. This includes techniques to quickly learn how to use the basic powers of a varmint
  they have formed a procul bond with in case of an emergency. She doubles as the schools lite-
  rature teacher. Is known to be a very stoic person.
  
• Hanazawa : A varmint teacher, who is half human and half varmint. He teaches students abo-
  ut vagabonds, and what to do if they ever encounter one. He spends a lot of his time studying
  them as well, after having turned into his once before and was brought back to normal by his
  current familiarium bond partner. Bit of an oddball, but a likeable person all in all.
  
• Ando : the " kooky professor ", is a laidback magos who teaches students all about how to use
  magic, and about the history of it as well which is why he also serves as a history teacher at
  Calronia academy. He is quite eccentric which is what makes him a good magos for professor
  Hanazawa.

It is unknown to most humans, who aren't in anyway related to a varmint and/or magos, that Calronia Academy
is not a regular school. The school is located relatively close to the center of this city and presumed to have no-
rmal classes, and a decent size campus also containing dorm rooms that some students decided to stay in. Though
that don't mean there aren't one or two suspicious citizens who will wonder why they can sometimes hear animals
within the schools walls, as well as strange happenings occur around the school.

xxxCountless brown, orange, and yellow leaves drifted to the ground as the wind whisked through the tree branches. They blanketed the ground making it hard to the see side walk or dying grass that lied beneath them. The cold breeze that shifted said leaves left Hiroshi's nose red and running, while he walked down the street trudging towards the school. Snakes aren't meant for this weather... He thought to himself, burying his face into the scarf that encircled his neck.
xxxThe week had been a little more hectic and eventful then was typical for the school. It had been rumored that only a little while ago, Professor Ando and Hanazawa had had a run in with a lose vagabond somewhere within the city. Its magos nowhere in sight. It had been ages since the last time that had happened within as close a proximity to the school as it was said to have been. Though neither of them confirmed or denied the students questions or suspicions. No one really needed to be answered. A vagabond was no joking matter.
xxxThanks to living in the schools dorm room, Hiroshi typically managed to arrive at school slightly early on most mornings. Otherwise he would be late more often then not. He stepped throw the entrance with a heavy sigh as he unwrapped his scarf from around his neck. Due to the cold weather the walk had still felt like it took ages. Now that he was safely shelter from the harsh outdoors Hiroshi's mind began to wander elsewhere. After a minute or two spent trying to actually remember what day of the week it actually was, he realized that his first class of the day would be with Professor Hanazawa. Maybe he can be convinced to- Just as he had been approaching the classroom a loud boom erupted a few doors down. Hiroshi looked towards the door mark with the room number 184 with mild concern, as the sound of maniacal laughter filled the air accompany by a chorus of swears from a spectator. It was Professor Ando's room, and Hiroshi was a bit uncertain as to whether or not he really wanted to know what had just happened. Eventually he made up his mind and cautiously Hiroshi approached the room, peaking in through the window in the door.
xxxWhat he saw on the other side of the door wasn't very surprising to say the least. In the center of the floor close to the front of the room a dark scorch mark discolored the tiles. Not far from it stood Professsor Ando and Hanazawa. The varmint seemed as though he were scolding his magos for what he had done, but Ando quite obviously couldn't careless due to being far to amused by it. The gray haired teacher was staring intently at the spot where whatever object he had blown up previously sat when seeing Hiro standing by the door. Before Hiroshi could so much as back away from the room, Professor Ando was throwing the door open and pulling him inside despite his yelp in protest. " Hey!" He exclaimed but ignoring him Ando pointed to the scorch marks. " Hiroshi! You see that mark? I assume you know what happened, so please, tell me what you think that used to be?" Ando quickly asked with a joyous expression. Looking over at Hanazawa who had one arm folded over his chest and was pinching the bridge of his nose with closed eyes, quickly lead Hiro to believe that whatever it had been was most likely something of some sort of value. After observing a few burnt smoldering bits of paper littered about the room he shrugged and guessed, " a notebook?" Ando quickly released a sound similar to that of a buzzer indicating he was wrong, before going on to inform him, " that! My friend, was the tests your class took last week." Pointing at the floor with a cheshire grin. " You're kidding me right?" Hiro asked looking at Ando out of the corner of his eye with one brow raised as he clutched the straps of his backpack. " Sadly he's not." Hanazawa mumbled, sitting down on the edge of Ando's desk as he looked down at the little to no remains of the students hard work. " Do us a favor Hiroshi! Go back to Hanazawa's classroom and tell anyone who's there that your class will be joining mine today, all right?" Ando said to Hiro, who decided that it would be best to refrain from asking what had actually happened there for the time being. It would probably be explained afterwards anyways. So without another word the snake strode back out into the hallway, and entered Hanazawa's room a few doors down. He doubted that there would be anyone there yet. Who on earth wouldn't have heard that explosion and gone to seek out what had happened. Even a lazy snake like him has been curious to find out.

As always, classes were almost about to start and yet, Toya was still in his dorm room, deciding on what to wear that day. It was the same problem every morning; despite his closet containing an unusual amount of clothes compared to other guys, nothing was ever good enough for the transgender male; either it was too bland, he had worn it too recently, or it just didn't fit the season. It was when Amemori-sensei's warning echoed through his mind once again - "Toya Kokonoe, be late one more time and you can expect an suspension from the academy." as her warning went - that he let out a desperate sigh and finally settled upon just wearing his black tank top along with dark skinny jeans and his black, laced platform shoes before putting on his signature trench coat, swinging his school bag onto his shoulder and running out of the dorm. One glance on his watch told him he had exactly two minutes left before the first class, Ando-sensei's teachings about magic, was about to start. Two minutes... That should be enough to make it from the dorm all the way to the classroom, right? If he kept this pace up... Besides, if he didn't make it, surely Ando-sensei would be so kind to let this one slide, wouldn't he? ... He should probably come up with an excuse as a back up, just in case. Let's see... He had to save a kitten out of a tree? No... He already used that one a week ago. Besides, he had been using random acts of kindness as an excuse too often already, he had to be careful or else they wouldn't be falling for it anymore - if they weren't already - if he kept using them. The good old faked injury technique, then? Yet another sigh left the boy's lips. He really didn't feel up for walking around school all day with a fake limp, but it was probably the only card left he could play for now...

It was exactly the moment the school bell rang that Toya had made it into the hallway where Ando-sensei's classroom was located. Good, at least he didn't have to fake an injured leg for the rest of the day... However, the long haired male got suddenly distracted when he spotted someone nearing Hanazawa-sensei's classroom; it was no one other than a friend of his, Hiroshi Tachibana, the snake varmint. "Huh, Hiroshi? What's the matter?" Toya questioned, his head tilting slightly at the concerned expression the other was wearing. His glance going towards the open door of Hanazawa-sensei's classroom, he noticed how unusually empty it was, despite the school bell already having rung a moment ago. Even Hanazawa-sensei himself was nowhere to be seen... Where was everyone? "Did something happen?" he added a second question as his eyes were directed back at the snake, his brows furrowed in confusion as he waited curiously for an answer.

Arlin trotted down the hallway at a brisk clip, their schoolbag and books hoisted over one shoulder. The hallways were mostly deserted, and with a nervous flick of their ears they quickened their pace. It wasn't often that they were ever late for class, but they'd lost track of time today. It wasn't so much the deduction of points or the disapproval of teachers that they feared; no, Arlin was more worried about drawing attention to themself. They preferred to stay out of the way of everybody else. Ever since word had spread that they had the potential to become a vagabond thanks to the situation with their parents, Arlin had not been the most popular student at Calronia Academy.

They were halfway to Professor Hanazawa's classroom when they heard a sharp sound coming from a nearby classroom; their sensitive ears quickly picked up the direction and magnitude of the explosive noise. Seemed that the good Professor Ando was making something blow up once again, that might do to scare new students but after studying here for a few years Arlin wasn't surprised at much anymore. Though curious to see what kind of ridiculous antics the professor might be getting up to -- it was always an amusing spectacle -- Arlin was late enough already, and reluctantly turned away from the sound to head towards Professor Hanazawa's classroom.

However, when they got there, they paused in surprise. The classroom was empty, and even the professor was not there. Had they missed some kind of update? Sometimes the teachers relied on students to spread class information through word of mouth, in which case Arlin was usually at a disadvantage as they didn't tune in to gossip whatsoever. To make things worse, the only two students that were present-- they were speaking in the doorway of the classroom -- were two that Arlin was barely familiar with. Hiroshi Tachibana, the snake varmint, they'd hardly ever even spoken to. Though they'd heard some rumors lately about the status of Hiroshi's parents that made them wonder if maybe they shared something in common with the snake varmint, nothing was confirmed yet, and Arlin knew better than to trust in schoolyard gossip.

As for Toya Kokonoe, he wasn't in Arlin's year, though they shared a few classes together. All they knew about him was that he was often late to class, if it wasn't for that, he wouldn't even be on Arlin's radar. They didn't especially want to start a conversation, but there didn't seem to be much other option, so they stepped forward in time to hear Toya ask, "Did something happen?"

"Has class been canceled today?" they inquired cautiously, directing the question at either of the two boys with a short nod towards the empty classroom. Both of them were in the same first hour as Arlin was, Professor Hanazawa's, so maybe they'd know something Arlin didn't. "Or are we maybe meeting somewhere else?"
