Her coat as dark as the night sky, but her paws looked like they were dipped in the bright stars of the world outside. Her family says she was star touched and carried a bit of her mother's soul within her.

However, the clan thought it was a warning. Born during one of whitest winters, it was no doubt that her dark hide was a clear beacon to predators on land. In caves, it was her glow and paws that gave her away. Despite this vulnerability, Aspen readily embraced her appearance as she got older.

To friends and enemies a like, they were drawn to her among the blankets of white or in the dark tunnels. She drew away predators from the clan and brawled with them until they fled. While friends knew to look for her in order to find the entrance to the tunnels or lead them through the winding passages.
