Ashrunner gazed at her little bundles. ``. . . They're perfect.`` She breathed, tired from the ache of delivering a second litter. The first litter was easy as it was only one kit. This one had five perfect grey little balls of fur. One was solid blue with white chest and belly markings. Two were brownish-grey tabbies with white bellies and paws, and two were grey tabbies, one of which had white and one which didn't.


The large dark-grey tabby tomkit pummeled at his mother's belly, suckling eagerly.

Ashrunner nodded. ``The small grey one with the markings on her face will be Poppykit, The one without the white.`` The queen pondered. ``The big grey tom will be Hailkit. The small brownish she-cat will be Petalkit, and the brownish tomkit will be Rainkit. The solid kit will be Bluekit.``
