Pondstar's yowl alerted Heronpaw, and he jumped at the sudden sound. The apprentice didn't bother moving to get closer to the clanrock, as he already had a decent view of the leader. He thought what she could be announcing: Goldenflower's kits were too young to be apprentices already, and he hadn't heard that any apprentices passed their assessments. That's when the realization hit him that the deputy hadn't been chosen yet! He waited with anticipation for who would be the heir to leadership.

The she-cat giggled at Finchlight's comment about Mumblebrook. "Ohh, you should totally chat them up sometime! I'm sure they'd be into you, too," Littlebird purred, giving her friend a playful nudge with her paw. She looked at the crowd of cats gathered around the leader, trying to find the perfect candidate for the rank. "Hm, I'm thinking Wolfnose will be the one," She decided, turning to watch Pondstar with interest. "Considerate, kindhearted, and he's pretty amusing, too."

marigoldpool jumped in fright, but then padded to the clearing. she already knew what this was about, there was no need to wonder.

the small apprentice padded into the clearing. his mind was buzzing with thoughts as he took a seat next to a random warrior.

As her Clan finished gathering and settled into spots, Pondstar began the meeting: "It has been a time of grief for TwilightClan. The recent badger took our dear Meadowfang much too soon..." Her meow was strong and clear, but a tinge of grief made her voice shake as she talked about Meadowfang, the previous deputy's death, "He was strong and courageous. Meadowfang served as my deputy for over 30 moons.." She lowered her head with a saddened sigh, "Meadowfang would of made a fine leader."

Pondstar raised her head high once more, "As we mourn our fallen deputy, it is time that we pick the successor of Meadowfang!" Her green eyes gazed across the gathered Clan, "I say these words before Meadowfang, so that his spirit may hear and approve my choice!" She scanned the cats before making her final decision.

Duskflame dug his claws into the earth with anticipation. He had no clue who the deputy could be. Many of the warriors either have had an apprentice or are either training one. Duskflame doubted he would be chosen. He still felt young despite having an apprentice of his own.

Echopaw:
Glancing up from where she rested, she stood and padded towards where the call had come from. Stopping just outside the circle, she glanced over at her brother who sat off to the edge of camp, eyes narrowed and a scowl on his face. "Hawkpaw." She called. "Come, sit with the rest of us." He gave her a glare but she still stood strong and patted the ground beside her. Rolling his eyes, hawkpaw pushed off the ground to sit beside her. She gave a nod of approval.

Hawkpaw:
'Mouse brained sisters, always so bossy.' He said from his newly acquired seat. He knew she was just trying to get him to be closer to the clan but he didn't want to. He could honestly care less about what a bunch of overgrown kits running around in the forest do in their free time. Still, for this one time, he really did not feel like getting into another fight with echopaw. They had already had a huge argument the previous night over owlpaw and he wasn't prepared for another so soon. Despite being physically weaker, hawkpaw has yet to beat echopaw in a fightand her sharp words never really did anything to help. Turning, he listened as the leader spoke. He gave a snorted at her description of meadowfang. Personally he had never liked Meadowfang. He was always too soft and weak hearted for his liking. Sure he didn't know the tom for long but it didn't take much for him to figure that out.

Owlpaw:
Rushing over when she heard their leaders call, Owlpaw was filled with excitement and anticipation. Suddenly, in her anxious rush, she managed to stumble over her paws and fall face first into the dirt. Shaking her head and rising, she grinned wider and shook some of the dust from her lightly colored pelt. "Whoops." She said with a grin nd looked around to find a seat. Seeing heronpaw sitting by himself, she quickly rushed over to greet the other apprentice. "Heronpaw!" She called excitedly to him, practically bouncing on her paws. "Are you excited? What do you think this is going to be about? Is it the deputy?" She stopped momentarily to listen to their leader speak. "It is about the deputy! Who do you think is going to win? Ugh! I can't wait any longer! I want to know!" She cried before suddenly realizing she was rambling and plopping onto her rump. A light embarrassed blush lit her face as she said, "whoops. Sorry. I didn't mean to ramble." She gave an awkward chuckle after that before asking, "can I sit here?"

Heronpaw softly chuckled at Owlpaw's clumsiness. "Of course," He responded to her question, his tail flicking back and forth in contentment. He appreciated the she-cat's company, as her cheery personality always gave him delight. "Who do you think it will be?" He questioned, making sure to keep his voice down to not disturb the rest of the clan. "Personally, I think it'll be Ryestalk. He seems reliable and tough."

wolfnose felt apprehension prickle in his paws as he looked around the camp. it was unclear who would be chosen; there were so many fine cats in the clan, perfect for the position. his heart went out to pondstar; it must have been a tough decision, especially after the loss of meadowfang. wolfnose's head dipped with sadness. meadowfang was a brilliant deputy, and a good friend. his untimely death was disheartening, but twilightclan would prevail, they always did. wolfnose nodded along absentmindedly to mumblebrook's statement. a good walk to stretch his long legs would be nice.

finchlight snorted. "me? chat up mumblebrook? puh-leaze. they're eye candy, thats for sure, but... eh. i can't possibly be tied down to just one lucky cat." the warrior was joking, of course; she couldn't keep a straight face after dramatically throwing her head back like she was a stuck-up kittypet, and let out a small wheeze as she tried to contain boisterous laughter. finchlight calmed herself a bit as littlebird pointed out wolfnose, and cocked her head. "yeah, maybe. he's pretty cool. really, it could be anyone. could be alderbelly, or ryestalk, or marigoldpool. 'tis a shame, we're too young. you would make a pretty sick leader one day, and hey! i could be your deputy!" finchlight mrrowed in laughter at the thought. the mood was darkened a tad, however, as pondstar mourned meadowfang. he was a fine cat, and would have made a wonderful leader. suspense prickled in finchlight's paws as pondstar grew ever nearer in announcing her new subordinate.

She trudged over to heronpaw "heronpaw i think ryestalk might really be deputy he is loyal and tough. and has an amazing mind in fighting" Dappledlight meowed her leg twitching a bit as sorrow filled her like a waterfall

Owlpaw:
"Thanks!" She said brightly, sitting the rest of the way as she listened to him speak. "Hmm... " She pondered for a moment before grinning widely once more. "I could see that. Ryestalk does seem like he'd be a good deputy. He'd definitely keep the clan in order, and he's echopaws mentor too! That'd be really cool!" She couldn't keep the nervousness out of her voice however and shifted her paws anxiously. Deciding to intrust him with the reasons behind her nerves, she frown and shivered, looking forlornly towards their noble leader. "He's just... Well... I guess he's just a bit too much like hawkpaw for my liking. Too much fighting and not enough caring." She cast a nervous glance to her two siblings, both of which were sitting a distance off, silently listening as the tension seemed to surround them. Echopaw suddenly caught owlpaw's sight and gave her littermate a caring and soft smile. Smiling back, owlpaw seemed to brighten and she added, "I think I'd much rather prefer wolfnose. He's really funny and super cheerful too! I think he'd be just what we need as a deputy."

Paleshade felt her paws tingle with excitement, she wondered who the new deputy would be and couldn't hold in her excitement for another moment as she sat next to Marigoldpool. Hopefully Pondstar would make the right choice, what was she talking about Pondstar was their leader of corse she'd make the right choice!

marigoldpool curled her tail around her paws, waiting. she felt excitement bubbling up in her, she had been wondering who would be deputy for a while now. it was great that pondstar was finally announcing it.
