Name: Lila II Location: Escaping II Mood: Excited and Nervous II Tags: All
As Rhov unlatched the stable door, Lila felt a sudden jolt of nervousness. Why should I leave my owners.. they love me, and they've been so kind to me! But as the rest of the horses started galloping towards the fence, she knew she had to make a quick decision. She trotted out of the stall door and began to gallop, quickly catching up to Phe. Lila didn't know why, but whenever she was with Phe, she felt a sense of calmness. Phe had been so nice to her, fostering Lila as if she were her own foal. As they came towards the fence, Lila suddenly realised that she was going to have to jump the fence. "Phe, I can't jump the fence.. I'm not like you.. I'm a draught horse, I can't jump!" Squealed Lila. But Phe was only focused on getting herself over the fence, and if Lila were to escape, she'd have to jump it. Lila had never jumped over anything more than a trotting pole, let alone a 1 metre fence! Suddenly, Lila remembered her advantage; she was a tall foal, and she was young. It was possible for her to make it over the fence. But she had to give it her all. As she neared the fence, she took a massive leap, then she shut her eyes tight. She felt her back feet collide with the fence, and she suddenly realised she needed to lift them up a tiny bit more. She strained her rump muscles, and heaved. As she felt the ground underneath her feet, she tripped. She was heaving with exhaustion after the jump, but to escape successfully, she needed to keep running. She pulled herself up, and she saw Phe (who had already galloped quite far away) staring down at her, concerned. Lila then felt a surge of power, and and urge to please. She galloped up the hill, and she saw Phe smiling, then Phe turned around to gallop with the others. Lila suddenly felt incredibly accomplished as she powered behind the other horses. As the horses began to settle down and began to slowly drift into sleeping mode, Lila felt relieved. She'd made it over the fence, she was proud of herself.
As Lila woke, she heard a commotion amongst the stallions and the other horses. She decided that rather than stand and listen to them, she would wander off and explore. She trotted off, inspecting the grass and feeling relieved about how she was free! She felt a sudden jolt of guiltiness, for leaving her humans. But she loved it out here, it was calm and peaceful, and the grass swayed along in the breeze as though it was dancing. She was never going back, and she began to feel excited for what lay ahead of her. She found a dusty patch to roll in, and felt the warm sun on her back as she flipped, tossed and turned in the pool of dust. "Ahh, THIS is the good life..".
