lately, as i have been developing my characters, i've been getting hung up on where my characters should live. i have always pictured one of my quad characters (burdock,) as living in a house, but the more i think about it the more unusual and wrong that feels, which leads me to ask...

especially your quad characters! do they live in a natural habitat (i.e. the woods,) in a house, or maybe something in between? do all your characters live together? or do they exist in different dimensions/places/times?

in other words, do your characters act and communicate in a human like way or do they behave in a way that is more relevant to their real life counterpart (i.e. a dog oc acting like a real dog.)


i don't know about anyone else, but as of late, my da stash has been acting up a lot more lately. up until this point i've been happy with keeping my characters organized in my stash, but now it is just making me really nervous. i know i would need a code first, but would anyone recommend toyhouse? is it relatively easy to use? i am honestly not that familiar with it but from its popularity it appears to me that it would be a good replacement to using stash? i would love to get some opinions! c:

Ooh questions:

Where do your characters live?
Honestly it depends on the character. Tbh most of them don't have a set place that they live- I sort of have my own idea for each of them. Many of my quad characters live somewhere in nature like Mayais who lives in the savannah and interacts with humans- specifically, he guards vulnerable wildlife against poachers. Others like my witch doctor Esi live in dens. My anthro characters live in a more humanized setting.
This is actually a really interesting question. It's kind of difficult with quad characters I guess, because even though you want them to have anthropomorphic qualities there's a point where you don't want to push it too far.

do you see your quad characters as sapient?
I see my characters as sapient. Part of this is likely from the fact that I developed many of my characters through a roleplay with a friend of mine where my characters had human forms for simplicity's sake. All of my characters are sapient; many have jobs, goals, habits, etc. that would help to define them as so.

As for your concern about toyhouse- I have a toyhouse, and while I do really love it, it can be a pain in some ways. It really is a great way to organize your characters in a way that's secure and can help prevent character theft, but my problem with it is that it takes forever to get characters uploaded. You have to do each piece and each character individually, which gets tiring rather quickly. I really do like it, but I have to warn you that it is tiring.
