The stallion chuckled and cantered in circles around Belle.

Firefly followed close behind Renegade. She prayed that everything would be alright.

Belle laughed, tossing her head playfully.


Renegade followed the faint scent on the breeze, feeling tense.

Veteran stopped running from the mare. He circled around her once and then barreled toward her direction.

The filly wondered what her boy was smelling. Was he checking for...for blood?

Belle decided to tease him a bit. She would let him get close, then run off again. She was as fast and agile as her slight, willowy build suggested.



Renegade made a slight turn, pausing for a moment. "Do you hear anything now?"

The stallion thought it would be smart to let her tire herself out and stay at a steady pace. He wasn't as agile as he used to be.

Firefly shook her head. "I hear laughter."

Bell was used to having to keep up her pace and strength living with the herd and never showed signs of slowing. Then, she seemed to slow up a bit on purpose.


"Huh, laughter?" He murmured.

The military had taught him a great deal. One of them was the ability to canter for days on end. This light exercise was hardly straining for him and he actually enjoyed it.

Firefly gave Renegade a look of confusions. What now?

Belle kept slowing down then suddenly veered off into the trees.


"Um, I guess we can try to find the source . . ." he said.
