My two are fussy when it comes to cat toys, Ruff likes anything with fluff on it and Archie is lazy. They have a few balls that are a mix of wool and fluffy stuff they both enjoy, there is also a type of mouse they like which is fluffy and rattles. Archie has a three level ball run that he flicks the balls around these circular track which he uses off and on.

The biggest hit has been a cat tunnel I bought from a dollar shop. Didn't think the cats would like it but its been the best toy we have ever bought! Archie runs in and out of it, sleeps in it, attacks your feet and pops out of the cut out holes in it to grab Ruff. Ruff likes it too when he is in the mood.

If your looking for an interactive toy I would highly recommend Da Bird by Go cat. It has a chain on the end of the string that makes the feathers twirl, and cats really seem to like it. What I like about it is that you can buy attachments for the rod like fur, a mouse or even a really sparkly one, so cats don't get bored of it as easily. They will probably only like the feathers it originally comes with if they like jumping but if they like ground toys I would definitely recommend the mouse attachment. It is originally for another toy they have but it attaches on to Da bird just fine. I have the other rod for the mouse but it's not as good as the Da bird one. My cats went absolutely crazy for the mouse haha. If you get it just make sure to put it away when you're not using it so they don't get tangled in it or break the toy. As with any toy, not all cats will like it, but more often than not they tend to really enjoy it in my experience.

The Snowy Biscuit will chase anything when she's in a playful mood. Her favourite is a little fuzzy ball with a bell in it, with a red squeaky mouse coming in close second. Shoelaces are also good ^^

Hi all. I haven't posted here yet, but I am a cat owner! My family has had cats ever since I was born, but after losing our beloved cat Midnight to cancer in 2012, we hadn't had a cat since.

Until I came home from university, and decided that I wanted a cat against my mother's very vocal wishes. So I waited until she wasn't home, went to a shelter to 'ask about Jack Russells', and came home with The Snowy Biscuit.

Image

We haven't had a female cat since I was a really small child, and wow are they different to the boys. Biscuit is opinionated, sassy and PARTICULAR about what she likes. Our biggest worry bringing her home was that the Jack Russell would go for her. He is a prolific chaser of things, and while he never hurt any previous cats, the breed has a track record.

Despite our concerns:
Image

They're best buds and play all the time. She doesn't run away from him because she's a fearless queen, and he's super gentle with her.

I felt inspired to post because of a recent thing the Biscuit has started doing. It's adorable and horrendous at the same time. Biscuit has access to our garden (our property is really secure, no way for her to go a-wandering). Both of my parents are away right now, and I'm hella stressed due to thesising. Biscuit's never been much of a hunter before, but suddenly it's like she's worked out that I am more useless and underfed than usual? Because she's started catching me lizards ever since my parents left. Yesterday she caught FIVE and left them in strategic places around my room (the one in my bath towel was definitely the most surprising). Today her total is at two so far. I wish she wouldn't hunt the little buggers, but I do feel very flattered that she's feeding me. She's a good girl.

She might enjoy the string getting caught under something, like a box. They're basically programmed to hunt small furry animals, so try to make the toys act like a small furry animal, haha. My older cat is the same way, so it takes a bit of creativity to get him motivated. I give him plastic shopping bags and wiggle his toys underneath it, and he loves it. I also drag his cat chaser toy (a long strip of fleece attached to a stick) up the wall so it makes noise, and that usually gets him interested. Moving around the opposite end of his cat chaser underneath a blanket or rug also works well. Doing these things helped get my cat back to his happy, playful self!

@Verdana - That's so sweet, yet horrifying. And my old female cat fits that description pretty well. I'm not sure if most female cats are sassy, but we've had 5 males and only 1 female. Although we have 3 boys right now and sometimes I think of them like the Kardashian sisters. As cuddly and caring as they are, they can be drama queens with each other. The oldest of the 3 can be very sassy and particular, and he's been that way since we brought him home at 6 weeks old!

I'm so, so excited! My friend's cat had kittens a little more than a month ago, and I get to adopt one! She's a little calico kitten, the only calico in her litter. She's just the cutest thing, she has a black spot on her left eye, and an orange spot on her right eye. The only other orange she has (at least right now) is on her tail.
I decided to name her Pumpkin, since she was born close to Halloween. I'll be getting her this Sunday. c:

Here's a picture of her. I took this when she was 4 weeks old, so it's a bit outdated. I'll take more pictures of her when she's home.

Hi i was wondering if anyone has advice for getting my cat Igor to start drinking water from his dish instead of out of the sink or toilet haha, he seems to be only interested in the water out of the tap or in the toilet and i rarely see him drink from his dish. I clean and change his water daily so I can't see it being the bowl itself...any advice is appreciated thank-you :D

Cats don't like drinking that much, they get most of their moisture from food.
If you don't already have one consider getting a water fountain. Cats are drawn to running water which is why he likes drinking from the tap. We have one for our cat and she definitely drinks more than she did from a bowl. They're not too expensive and well worth it for the long-term health of your kitty's kidneys :D
And if the water bowl is next to the food move it away if at all possible. Cats don't like drinking next to their food.
You cannot eat love, nor buy a horse with it, nor warm your halls on a cold night

Actually, my cats absolutely love drinking. They have 3 bowls in my room and I have to fill them up pretty often.

I suggest putting the water bowl away from their food. Mines never drunk at all when the bowl was next to their food bowls. Make sure the water is always fresh and clean. You can even look into getting some cat water fountain drinking dish -sort of thing. I'm not sure what those are called, but I've seen them around. If your cat prefers moving water, then this can be more appealing to them. Mines seem to prefer bowls over the tap or anything like that.

That's awesome but definitely an anomaly. Cats come from a desert species so in general they don't drink very much.
