Yuki smiled and curled her body around its shivering form. She nuzzled it softly to comfort it, "I think squirrels eat whatever is edible and mot meat. Maybe bugs and flowers? Some nuts as well?" She looked at him as she tilted her head, "Do you think we can find food for it? Can we keep him?"

He nodded. "Of course we can keep him." He trotted to the entrance of the den. "You make sure he stays warm, and I'll go find some squirrel food." Without waiting for a response, he heads out, checking the ground closely for acorns. Whenever he found one, he rolled it with his nose over to their den, in a small pile.

Next he headed down to the pond, and collected some small flowers, and brought those to the pile also.

"Now, bugs." Aspen frowned. How in the world is a fox supposed to catch small bugs? Pouncing? No, that would squish them. He sat down for a moment, pondering his problem.

He nodded. "Yes, I think that's probably a good idea." He lifted his head sleepily. "I guess I should head back to my shelter." He reluctantly, standing up.

Yuki grinned as she watched Aspen leave. "I wonder how he is going to handle the bug catching. We can't catch bugs without squishing them. If I was younger I most likely would catch them in my mouth. I was a weird pup." She said to the squirrel and it looked like it nodded at her. She smiled and licked it clean, "You are dirty. What have you been doing ever since I found you? I thought you would keep yourself clean." She laughed and finished cleaning the baby squirrel. It nuzzled closer to her and it yawned drifting off to sleep. She smiled and turned her head back to the entrance of their den waiting for Aspen to return.

He finally decided to try, and crouched in the grass watching for bugs. He spotted a grasshopper, and snapped at it, catching the insect in his mouth. Ew. He thought, somewhat disgusted as he trotted back to Yuki.

He pushed the pile into the den, and nodded at his mate. "Bleh!" He spit out the grasshopper. "Ugh, that was nasty." He made a face. "Anyway, I got lots of nuts and flowers."

Yuki giggled, "You caught a grasshopper!" She quietly replied. "They aren't supposed to be good. They are good for squirrels and other creatures that eat bugs." She gently woke the squirrel up and nudged it towards the grasshopper. It stared at her then back to the bug. It slowly grabbed it and started to eat it. It put it in it's mouth and ran back to Yuki's side. It sat down as it pressed its body into her belly. It continued to eat and it looked at Aspen as it ate.

He rolled his eyes. "Thank you, I didn't know that." He playfully nudged her. "I just had no other way to catch it." He started at the squirrel curiously.

"Let me see if I can crush some of these acorns." He picked one up in his mouth, and tried to crack it with his teeth. "Ow!" He winced, dropping the nut. He had succeeded, though. He broke the rest of it with his claws.[/SIZE]

Yuki looked at him worried, "Don't hurt yourself! Maybe use a rock next time?" She turned to the squirrel and smiled, "It's okay. He is your father. That's Aspen and I'm Yuki. Who would you be?" She thought for a moment wondering what to name the baby squirrel. It was obviously a male so it had to have a make name. "How about Aurelius! It means golden. Is that a good name?" It looked at her and nodded slowly. She grinned, "He likes the name Aspen!"
