I don't think there's much of an October event, it's just time to plan your nano novel.

I just did a word sprint, my challenge was to bring my character to tears with one word, here's what I got (I thought u guys might like it idk probs not.)

Meek looked over at the boy next to him. "Nate, if we were about to die and you could only say one word, what would you say?" He asked, curiously. Nate didn't reply for few moments. While he was thinking, Meek took note of the feelings going through his body. The grass they were laying in tickled every time he shifted. The sun made him warm. "Ribs." Nate said in reply. Tears formed in Meeks big cyan eyes. He rolled over towards Nate, salty tears streaming down his pale cheeks. Nate looked over, wrapping his arms around Meek. "Are you okay? I didn't mean to make you cry!" He said, worried. Meek shook his head, sniffling. Nate rubbed Meek's back in an attempt to comfort him. Meek let out a unsteady breath. It got quiet. He could hear Nate's heartbeat when he strained to hear. Nate laid his head back into the grass, looking at the clouds. "Nate, what do you see when you look up?" Meek asked, rolling over so he could see the clouds too. "I see.... a wolf, and he's howling, but it kinda' looks like he's crying too." Nate said in reply, but he was looking at Meek, not the clouds.

Cool! Loved the ending. This may be because I don't know anything about these characters other than what you've just posted, but why would "ribs" make Meek cry? ((All I could think of was the ribs you can eat, so that might have messed with it, too. Still, not understanding the other context, either...))

"Ribs." Meek is anorexic because of his abusive aunt and uncle he's forced to live with because his parents are deceased. Nate always tries to boost his dear boyfriend's self esteem. Nate always says he loved Meek's slender body. And it's just a word that kicks something in me as well.
