I never cancel trades rudely if possible. Unless a person is driving me up the wall and talking nonsense, I atleast TRY to explain why I cancel. >:C I mean if you wouldn't do it in real life, why do it now? People like that won't get many takers in future, so good luck to them

Most of the problem has to do, in my opinion, with what exactly someone considers to be 'rude'. I often cancel trades with very simple messages or no message at all, and while I would never think I'm being nasty, I get the feeling that if it's not a 'happy butterflies and rainbows' reply, people will be annoyed and automatically label it as rude.

Of course that's just my two cents, and I can wholeheartedly agree that it's difficult to swallow when you send a trade for a pet you'd love and have it canceled for whatever reason. Even if you cancel without a message, it doesn't mean you are being rude either, not in my book.

I just hate it when I get a trade asking for a couple of old rare pets while offering two or three unkown rarities from this month (that are most probably going to be common/uncommon/worthless.) And only one or two of them would be on my wishlist, the rest would be just doubles. And they'd send no trade message.
I find it extremely rude (most of the users that sent me trades like these were "experienced" users with rares/very rares on my wishlist). It's like they know it's a... dull trade (to put it mildly) but send it anyways in hopes that maybe I'm feeling extra generous or stupid today.

I'm sorry for all of the bitterness, but this has happened over and over again D=
Is anyone facing a similar issue?

Yes continually. And, like you said, these people DO have good pets to offer they just choose not to and instead offer me a ton of... ... crap for lack of a better word for semi valuables from early '10 on back to late '08. :|

When you read their rules, be really nice and offer a fair trade...

Then they cancel on you -.- without a message.

Maybe they weren't interested in the trade despite it being fair? I know you're allowed to rant and I'm not trying to cut it short, just seeing if I can wrap my head around why not sending messages is bad. <_<

I do this, many times because I don't have anything to say. That and as quoted in the first post "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all"
Personally, I prefer a messageless cancel, over a nasty note, or snarky reply.

In fact so many people get so outright mean, I don't read cancel messages anymore unless I was working with someone I know is polite and likely has written a decent message to explain (even if it's "I don't want to trade, sorry")

This is also why in my rules and in my trade thread it says I may, and can cancel without a message. What irks me is when people read that, and then PM me and rant that I'm rude, because I didn't leave a message, when they sent the trade knowing, I'm not the type that always has time to leave a message.

o.O
things like that always get no message because if I left one it would be very, mean.

I love messageless cancels. It makes me feel better :3
I can't become very mean, on the cancel messages. The worst I've ever typed was

I think the worst cancel I did wasn't, I admit, the nicest. Well, they did say that a very unfair trade they sent was fair, so I told them that I was offended, and I thought it was downright rude of them to try and scam me, so I told them to never bother trying to trade with me again.
Yeah, I wasn't having one the nicest days -shot-
