Moonpaw's belly roared. "Ashrunner?" she asked out of the blue " before we go can you get me some kill maybe a thrush" She mewed her belly still roaring

Mousestar couldn't find Oaktail, so he padded over to the fresh-kill pile. This was his last chance to tell Ashrunner how he felt before she fully became a medicine cat, and vowed to never have a mate or kits.

Ashrunner settled down, turning to lick her pelt.

He picked up a thrush and a vole and padded over to the medicine cats.

Ash shrugged. ``Mousestar's probably getting us something. And I'm not afraid of the other Clans. You know that.`` Ashrunner slid her claws out. ``I may be a Medicine Cat but I fight like a Warrior.``

Moonpaw let out a mrrow of laughter " Wish i was like you!" She purred "Um before we go i want to know, Do you have any kin in other clans?" She asked

``Well,`` Ashrunner began. a paw on her chin thoughtfully. ``No. I was the only kit in my litter to survive. I was born in leafbare, you see, and my siblings and I were weak. There was me, Ashkit, my sister Cinderkit, and my two brothers, Sootkit and Burntkit. Sootkit died right away, he wasn't the healthiest kit. Cinderkit died a moon before our apprentice ceremonies. When I started training as a Medicine Cat, Burntpaw and I were in the forest, he came to collect herbs with me. A twoleg was using a weird string-stick thing, and a weird stick with a sharp end. It hit Burntpaw and he died when I got him to the Camp.``
