I HAVE A QUESTION!
TYPE OF QUESTION: Math
YOUR QUESTION:I have two questions!
We are currently learning about Literal Equations and Formulas and I was absent for the lesson. Thanks to the internet, a teacher and my textbook I managed to finish all the questions but two.

1. d. = f + fx

2. x - 4
____ = 5
y + 2

I can take pictures if needed.
And, if possible, could I get a breakdown of how to solve Literal Equations to make sure I'm set?

Is 1. d = f + fx ? Or is it 1.d. _ = f + fx? And what variable are you supposed to be solving for in each equation?

Solving literal equations involves simply isolating a variable. So, for example: d = f + fx
If you are supposed to be solving for x, then you need to isolate x (currently, d is isolated).

First, we'll take care of addition/subtraction because it's the simplest. f is added to fx (it's a positive; if it was negative, it'd be subtracted from fx) on the right side. In order to isolate x, we want to first "get rid" of f by subtracting it (the opposite of addition).
d = f + fx
-f = -f
d - f = fx

Now, we'll isolate x by dividing by f. x is multiplied by f, so we do the reverse (divide) to "get rid" of it.
d - f = fx
/f = /f
d/f - 1 = x

I know this is a bit late, so I hope it helps?

A common method I use is to take a word or phrase I like from the story and make that the title. You could also pull out the theme and use a thesaurus to find an appropriate word for the title. ^^

I understand that chlorophyll reflects green light because it's green which means green light would make the rate of photosynthesis slow down but I'm not really sure how to explain it for other colours? Thanks for any help!

The key here is that you're dealing with equilateral triangles, which means that the length of all three sides is equal to each other.

Now, you know that if you line all the triangles up in a straight line, that equals 54 cm. Triangles have three sides and since only the triangles are shaded, to find the perimeter, you simply multiply 54 cm by 3.
Think about it like this: the triangles are all currently on side 1. To find the perimeter, you could flip the triangles to side 2 and measure that line. Since these are equilateral triangles, this line will also be 54 cm. Finally, you would flip the triangles over to side 3 and measure that line. Again, these are equilateral triangles, so this will also be 54 cm. So your perimeter is 54 cm + 54 cm + 54 cm OR 54 cm * 3.

Hope that helps!

Good authors make the title when they are finished the story. That way, you get an idea on what the main idea is and you can use that for your title.

this is a good idea!
I have trouble with geometry, and just math in general is a bit difficult to understand.
I'll be sure to return to this thread if I need any help c:

The answer is C because when you factor the left side of the problem out, the equation is equal. Therefore, you can plug anything in for x and get the same answer on both sides.

Sorry that's it looks like a lot, I assure you that I did most of it myself.

Since this is a quiz and thus I imagine is meant to test what you yourself know, I'm not going to actually give you all the answers, but I'm going to try to point you in the right direction so you can hopefully work out the answers yourself, okay? c:

1. US CONSTITUTION
I am not quite sure if I am interpreting this question correctly, as the amendments are not exactly a part of the Constitution itself but rather were added on later, but my guess is that the question is referring to the first ___ (a number) amendments, which were all added at the same time and are collectively known as the ___ of ___. Does that sound right?
2. CHARTERS OF THE VA COMPANY OF LONDON
These charters were written in the early 1600's and allowed the ___ ___ (what was the name of the Company involved?) to travel to North America and establish an English colony in the ___ ___. (Europe, Asia, and Africa are known as the Old World. In contrast, the Americas are known as the ...).
3. VIRGINIA DECLARATION OF RIGHTS
The Virginia Declaration of Rights ___ed (a verb - used in the title of the document) certain ___ (a noun - also in the title) of all ___ (I'm not confident about this blank, but possibly "free"?) citizens in ___ (the state in which this document was written).
4. DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE
The Declaration was a document written by the ___ (the citizens of the country declaring independence) because they felt that the ___ (ruler) of ___ (country) was not respecting their rights.
5. Early documents and the US Constitution
This one I'm not sure about, either ... Maybe "ideas", "philosophies", or something similar? Does the question say which five documents it's referring to?

Hope that helps! You found one of my favorite subjects, so if you're still confused about anything, you are welcome to PM me if you like and I'll happily do my best to help with whatever you need. :P
