Kenai shifted his position as Chiyoko spoke; a second before he was on the ground, the next, he had merged out of the shadow of the tree and onto the branch, standing beside her. He listened intently though his face wore a plain mask of uninterest. "Chiyoko...." His voice faded into a lulling tone, "You can't do anything about what those humans get into their brains, and you can't stop every human from killing a monster, and the humans can't stop us too. It's the minimal balance that still exists, and you better not pin the blame on yourself." He paused before lowering himself so that he could look into Chiyoko's eyes. "Whatever happens, we do it together. I am your beta and you can rely on me, give me any task, and it will be done." His face didn't hold any warmth, no emotion that a lover might display, but his words still held meaning, a bond that exists through their ranks, something that binds them together.

Shikira Hawk Ahryver
Age: 274 | Gender: Female | Species: Human, Elf, Fairy | Rank: Loner | Tagged: Anybody in town
The girl continued pushing her way through, her face hard as stone by the time she reached the edges of the market. She didn't blame them... at least not directly. They weren't the ones who teased her, or threw stones at her and called her a monster and an abomination. No... they weren't the ones who did that. Shikira sank to the ground, leaning against the worn houses that lined the streets. She was utterly stupid and naïve, and she knew that deep in her heart, she was an idiot and a brat. She silently hated herself for every minute she lived. Shikira closed her eyes, taking in deep breaths and slowly letting it out, letting the cool air tether her flames back to herself.
Shikira let her mind settle, beautiful gold strands, a pale gold colour that matched the tan skin....
She jerked away, her eyes wide in shock. Why was she thinking about him? An elf? Shikira rubbed her head as if she was trying to get a nightmare to leave her mind. Scrabbling to her feet, the girl brushed off the dust on her clothing and quickly tied her hair into a long sweeping braid that cascaded down to her waist. Her fingers brushed against the coins she had earned today, perhaps some food would be able to clear her mind of such foolish thoughts. Setting down another road, Shikira followed her nose to find her next meal.
