Speckleflame turned around. "Hey... I can help you buddy." Speckleflame licked Palepaw's forehead and went to get some honey and some catmint. She gave the catmint to Palepaw. "Eat that, then I can give you some stuff to make you feel better." She smiled. Her mind drifted back to Ashsnarl. Then to Creekspring. Then to Cloverpaw. She squeezed her eyes shut and took a deep breath. The tears were coming again.

Palepaw;;

Palepaw tried to obey and eat the herb, but he couldn't. He was too weak. He was also afraid he'd throw it up and waste it. "I-I.. I can't."

(really? He's an apprentice...?)

Speckleflame sighed. "It's either I chew it up for you, or you be the apprentice you are and eat it yourself." She said. She was being tough. She knew that, but it was her duty to heal Palepaw, this whole clan! "Then you can have some honey."

"Don't worry, Speckleflame can heal you. She's a great medicine cat. Did you know she's my sister? That makes her your aunt. She's a good cat, Palepaw," he said, licking his sons head. Iceheart looked up at Speckleflame as if asking 'will he be alright?'.

(He was exiled for leading a rogue attack on a patrol and killing an apprentice who was on it)

"I can't," Palepaw whispered again, whimpering.

"I've no reason to share with you, fleabag," Oakpelt hissed.

Darkwhisker flicks his tail as he looks around. Darkswift laid on the grass as he scan his eyes around the new land. "What is the reason for looking so far away?"

Speckleflame nodded to Iceheart, then looked back down at Palepaw. "Hey, I bet if you do this, you'll show your dad just how awesome you are!" She whispered, smiling.

"I. Can't," Palepaw repeated himself, trying to raise his voice but failing. He couldn't do it - he wanted to, but he was physically unable.

"Why?" Speckleflame asked, sitting down. This would take a while.

He curled his tail around Palepaw and began grooming him in an attempt to comfort both himself and the apprentice.

"I... well... Bad timing, but uh... I don't suppose you can tell me anything about my parents? Everyone refuses to talk about my dad and so I don't even know his name. Maybe you know my mother though? Featherstorm?" she asked curiously, ignoring the aghast stare Hox was directing at her. Sure, she was talking to a potential murderer but that didn't mean she couldn't learn about her dad.
