The filly bucked and exploded into an all out run. The frightened girl didn't know what was going on and wanted to get away as soon as she could.

[-Isabella-]

Renegade galloped after her, and once he caught up he passed her then wheeled around in front of her to cut her off.
"Hey, whoa! It's just me."

Firefly stood there breathing fast and hard. He had scared her. "You...." she shook and closed her eyes while trembling all over. "How could you..."

"I didn't think you would be that scared," he said, giving her cheek a gentle nudge with his nose.

Firefly leaned into his touch and sighed. She had had a dark past. He wouldn't understand. "I think...I should be getting back."

[-Isabella-]

"Alright," he said. "But . . . you will be coming back, right?"
What? Why did you just ask that?" He thought to himself. "What happened to not getting involved?"

Firefly chewed on this a little bit. Will I come back? She looked around at the forest and back at Renegade. He seems to be conflicted with himself. Perhaps he needs some space... "We...We'll see." Firefly finally responded after a moment.

[-Isabella-]

"Does she want to come back?" Renegade swallowed. "Alright." Then he turned and went to find his brother. As much as he hated to admit it, Veteran might be the only horse who could help him untangle his feelings.

Renegade was grazing in the meadow.
Over the last few months he had finally become fully settled in his new home, but part of him missed some of the action of being in the army.
He was glad to have Veteran with him now, but his relationship with Firefly was still confusing, and Veteran couldn't exactly help him it seemed.
Finally he decided to wander by the wild horse's grazing ground in hopes of seeing Bella. Maybe she could help.


Bella saw Renegade coming her way and nickered softly.
That stallion. He always needed advice and it seemed that as far as romance went, his brother wasn't very helpful.
Of course, Bella hadn't seen Veteran in a long time. She had thought they might be becoming friends, then it seemed like he pulled away, and afraid of being hurt Bella had retreated back to her herd and stayed there.

Veteran was being lazy for once in his life. He was enjoying retirement and felt that his service had done some real good. The stallion didn't miss the military, nor did he regret his service with the military.
His brother, Renegade, came by during the last couple months and kept pestering Veteran for romantic advice. Being a horse that is not romantically involved, he had no way of helping his troubled sibling. Its so like him to get himself in trouble in love...

Firefly was busy with her own problems. She was debating on whether or not she wanted to see Renegade again. Of course his name sent her heart a flutter, but she was afraid to face him. What if he only wants me around for my body and not because he loves me? There's no way he could ever love a paint like me... The filly sighed and closed her eyes. She could just be wrong about him. Perhaps Renegade does care for her, but what then? Firefly was just too uncertain.
