Veteran gasped in surprise. Yes, he had been trained to expect anything and be ready for anything, but this? He didn't know how to respond or what to do. He just stood there in shock at the mare. How could anyone be so sentimental?

"Scheming fillies?" she looked around and giggled. "Tell me something, army dropout, did they train you to withstand....this?!" Firefly tugged on his ear and turned around to gallop out of the water and back into the trees. She giggled playfully.

"What?" she asked, seeing his confusion.


Renegade stood still, in shock for a moment, then he chased her, finding himself almost enjoying her odd ways.

The filly leaped in the air and laughed at the stallion chasing her. At least he wasn't some boring ninny.

Renegade caught up eventually and nipped her neck playfully before veering off a bit.

"Farewell then, Miss Bella." Veteran turned to walk away.

Firefly chuckled and turned agilically and followed close behind him.

"Good day," she said politely, then went back to the woods.


Renegade kicked up his heels and bolted.

The filly stayed at her pace. Firefly figured that he would tire faster and create the perfect time for herself to catch up to Renegade. Sure, he'll get ahead, but Firefly will get him back when he least expects it.

Renegade went around a clump of trees, disappearing on the other side.

Firefly slowed herself to a canter and followed him into the trees, but seemed to have lost him. She figured that if she continued to canter along eventually she would find him. The filly's ears perked up as she was listening for the tiniest of sounds and movements.

Renegade suddenly jumped out behind her and whinnied shrilly.
