Firefly Stopped for a second and smiled. "He's handsome, but nothing like you." She half reared, turned, and leaped into a smooth canter. "Let's race! I know a little pond where we can drink!"

Bella nickered softly. "He seems to be doing alright. They decided to let him run free rather than try to break him in as a show horse. Of course. he has been driving Firefly crazy."




Renegade got a playful, competitive look. "Alright, let's go!"

The classic champagne stallion sighed out of relief at the mate's words. "I'm glad that he has found a good home and a mare that is actually too much for him." He looked back at the pair that raced off into the trees. "I don't think I've introduced myself. I'm Veteran."

Firefly took off at a fast pace into the trees. Should would lead him to the pond. Yes, she will lead him to her secret hiding spot.

"Nice to meet you, I am Bella," she said. She had always been a little self-conscious of her simple name.



Renegade followed, keeping up easily and wondering where the filly was taking him.

Veteran nodded. He didn't mind her simple name. In fact he found it rather cute, but decided it was best to not say anything at all. "Have you lived here long?"

The palomino Tabiano slowed to a bouncy trot as she neared the round pond in a center of pretty autumn aspens. The grass was tall and untouched and the pond was cool and fresh. Firefly dipped her head down to the water for a quick cool drink. She was quite thirsty after that run.

"I live with the herd," she said. "I was born there so yes, I have lived her all my life."


Renegade joined her, drinking deeply of the cool, clear water.

"That sounds nice. Renegade and I were bred at a military base. Been moving around ever since." he didn't really mind moving, but it did get old fast. Veteran had longed for a home to call his own.

Firefly giggled. She pushed the stallion's rump as hard as she could to get him in the water. Though due to her own velocity and force, she herself fell into the water.

"Do you like moving around like that?" she asked.



Renegade stumbled forward a bit but kept his balance. "You okay?" He nickered softly.

The stallion shook his head sadly. "No...I never felt at home. I don't know what home feels like, but," he took in a deep breath, "this might be it. This feels like the essence of home."

Firefly sputtered and splahed her way to her hooves. She stood knee deep in the water and shook her pelt. "Nothing's broken. I'm alright. Just wet." The paint mare wondered why didn't fall in the water.

"You almost brought me down with you," He said, chuckling softly. "But luckily I have been trained to withstand anything! Even scheming fillies."
