Trouble in Greenville - 20th Katkin Entry

Postby JaxCatt » Mon Oct 10, 2016 10:49 am

This is an entry for the 20th katkin in the katkin adopts by meveh. Please don't post unless I say you can!

Tigris tried hard to keep himself steady. This is Greenville, the destination where a giant reptile-like beast was attacking. He glanced at Jayce Tahvin, who was bragging to a trainee nearby about how she could kill that beast. “Is this really the time for bragging?” Tigris growled. “Greenville is in danger!” Jayce didn’t answer. Tigris had only been a corps trainee for two months, and he was already protecting. Tigris turned at his mentor. “Who will take care of the beast?” “The professional rangers will,” Tigris’ mentor answered. “Then why am I here?” “To help all of the katkins get out of the village safely.” Tigris’ mentor ordered. Tigris saluted. “I won’t let you down sir!” Jayce did a copying salute. “I won’t let you down sir!”, she said. Tigris was disappointed he couldn’t help with the beast, but at the same time, he felt proud. He knew his friend, Juliet, lived there. He was also glad to just be following orders, as he didn’t know what to do without them. “GO GO GO GO!”, the katkin leading the rescue team yowled. At the very last moment, Tigris, Jayce, and the other trainees dashed for the houses where the katkins of Greenville lived. Tigris and the other trainees were going from house to house, as they led the katkins of Greenville out of harm. As Tigris sprinted for the last house, he recognized that it was Juliet’s house. He sprinted faster than usual. However, he was unaware that the beast was lashing its tail towards the house. Tigris didn’t notice, and then the breath was knocked out of him as the tail slammed into Tigris and sent him flying backwards. He landed with a thud. I have felt this before. Tigris thought. His mind started flashing back to when he was younger, attacked by a bull-like beast. A ranger had rescued him. Tigris could hear the screeches of the rangers attacking the beast, worried about him, but one that was louder than the rest, Tigris recognized that was Juliet’s scream. He opened his eyes, and he found a black head with its purple eyes wide in shock. Unfortunately, the reptile-beast noticed Juliet, and lashed its tail again, this time aiming at her directly. But before the tail could slam into Juliet, Tigris jumped in front of her and took the tail hit. Again. The reptile-beast lashed its tail at the house again and again. And Tigris jumped in front of it and got hit again and again. In frustration, the beast jumped at Tigris. Tigris’ heart jumped just like the beast. He found out he was supplied with a bow and arrow in case of emergencies. This was an emergency, so he placed the arrow into the bow, pulled back, released. The arrow hopelessly missed. But the beast slipped backwards, obviously scared of the arrow. Finding the katkins as a threat, the beast ran off into the mountains. “You could have gotten yourself killed!” Juliet shouted. She tried to scold Tigris, but it ended with Juliet bursting into tears and she gave him a big hug. Jayce bounded along as soon as Juliet stopped hugging Tigris. “Hey, I could have done the same thing.” However, the words did not hide the surprise in Jayce’s eyes. “We all know you are as impressed as any other katkin.” Tigris grinned. “I am only surprised because you actually did it, I hardly believe that you could fend off a beast at all.” Jayce said with half-truth. She looked away. Tigris was proud that he could rescue his friend. Moreover, he was proud of being of service to Greenville.

Tigris was taken to a hospital later, because he was bleeding heavily from one wound. Tigris can't believe he nearly died saving a katkin. He grinned.
