- It had taken a while for the three to reach the creek, and by the time they had the sun had already set. All that they could really hear was the sound of the water and the occasional buzzing of an insect.
“Trey. Please tell me you brought your flashlight…” Avis had said with slight concern in her voice.
“Yeah… I have it in my backpack.” He had responded. With the very limited amount of light the young badger began digging through his bag to find his flashlight. Once he did he had taken it out and had pressed the button to turn it on. Only problem was no light came from the object…
“Are you serious? I guess the batteries died…” Trey had said with a slightly nervous laugh which had just earned a rather annoyed groan from Avis.
What they weren’t aware of was that Drax wasn’t very far away from them and that the flashlight being dead was all part of his plan. Before he had left to start the final phase of his plan he had managed to take out the batteries from Trey’s flashlight and replace them with ones that had already had their fair use. However, he knew that the badger would probably bring extra batteries, and if anything that would be fine. It would just make his scare twice as more dramatic than it needed to be.
“I’m pretty sure I have extra batteries in my bag somewhere… Just gimme a sec.” WIth that he began rummaging through the pocket on his bag and that was where Drax had started to make his move.
If anything it started off very casual. He had managed to lay out a number of twigs around the area that his friends were in so that when he stepped on them they would snap. This had quickly managed to get their attention.
“Did you hear that?” Calvin had asked, his voice cracking slightly.
“It was probably just Drax cause he knows that we’re out here...” Avis grumbled. “Hey Trey have you found those batteries yet?”
“Uh… no, but they’re definitely in here somewhere…”
With that Drax had proceeded to the next part of scaring them. Within the amount of time he took in preparing all of this he had been working on trying to sound like a random creature that could just be lurking out in the woods. Also considering the fact that he was a combination of two animals it managed to work out in his favor.
“Okay… But what was that?” Calvin had asked again upon hearing the sound.
“Uh… I dunno. I mean I don’t think Drax could make that noise even if he tried to…” Avis had told him with worry rising in her voice.
“Oh good news guys, I think I found the batteries!” Trey had called out.
“T-that’s great dude… Now uh… Hurry up and put them in the flashlight already.” Avis had told him clearly nervous about the “monster” that was running around.
The second Drax had heard that Trey found his extra batteries he took off running towards his friends. The second he got close enough he slowed down a bit and managed to puff his fur up so that he seemed to be twice his size if he was seen in the dark.
It had taken Trey a couple of seconds, but once he got the flashlight working Drax was already right behind him.
“Um… Trey… What is that behind you?” Calvin asked nervously taking notice to the large figure that stood behind him breathing heavily.
“What are you talking-” Trey was cut off by a loud scream the second he shined his light on the figure. In addition to that there was also another flash that had come from the camera that Drax had set up a few feet away.
After the brief panic and near heart attack that all of his friends had experienced, Drax had fallen over onto his back laughing.
“I got you guys really good! And for all three days that we were out here too!” He continued laughing until he had started coughing then slowly got back up. “You gotta admit that this was fun though right?”
“Oh yeah totally…” Trey had said after recovering and making sure that his heart was still beating and that he didn’t actually become a ghost. After he found his pulse he had hit Drax over the head, which had hurt Trey more than Drax considering that skull that he was always wearing.
“Yeah… Drax that was totally worth the three days of being stuck out here.” Avis had said doing the same thing as Trey.
The others had looked at Calvin waiting for the small Chinese water deer to say something. However, he didn’t say anything he just walked over to the tree that the camera was taped to and picked up the picture that had fallen from it.
“You know… I wanna be just as mad as Trey and Avis… But I can’t, and I think it’s because I actually had fun on this trip.” He said smiling walking over with the picture and handing it over to Drax. “We should totally do something like this again!”
Trey and Avis had laughed nervously not entirely sure if they were willing to go through another experience like this again. But Drax simply smiled because he knew that this was definitely something he would have to do again.
