It was night. Darkness
ingulfed the nursery. The only light was the
dull shine of the crescent moon,reflecting
in the river's water. The Clan was asleep.
All but two cats, who lay awake staring
at the same stars. Poppykit had crawled out of
her nest, and was sitting at the brim of the nursery.
The kit was far too distracted to notice the
gentle thuds of paw steps drawing near.
"Good evening, isn't it, Poppykit." Spoke an
unknown voice, breaking the silence.
Poppykit tensed, but relaxed when she
smelt RiverClan. "Huh? Oh, yeah." She
murmured. For a while the two sat there,
and the eerie silence returned. Until the
newcomer spoke."I see your having trouble sleeping,"
They observed. "So why don't we go for a little walk?
It always helps me."Poppy kit grunted in agreement,
but then thought better of it."But i'm not aloud to
leave camp. Especially when its so dark." Fretted
the she-kit. She didn't want to disobey the Clan rules.
But the other cat hushed them, and began
to walk towards the camp entrance.
"Just follow my silhouette."
They walked on, until reaching a bank,
covered in beautiful shells and rocks.
Poppykit gasped in amazement, she had never
been out of camp before; and it was better
then the kit had ever dreamed.
"Wow, look at all the pretty shells! Do you
think we could-" Poppykit was cut off as
the wind was knocked out of her by a vicious blow.
She stumbled into the shallow river bank,
looking around wildly fro her attacker.
A shadow.
It was the cat she had been walking
with this hole time.
They weren't trying to help her.
They were trying to kill her.
Poppy kit backed away slightly, her mottled fur
getting wet from the river. "Its a good thing
I brought you here, Poppykit. Because you'll
never see the river again."
They spat at Poppykit, who was shaking in fear.
"Thats right. I'll chase you into the river,
and you'll drown." They extended their claws,
and took a pace forward.
But something stopped them.
The sun.
The sun was rising, casting a faint glow across the river.
The attacker backed away, and ran into the forest before
Poppykit could see who they were.
And so in the cold, Poppykit lay down, and waited for
some cat to find her.

One-eye woke groggily, stretching his sore joints. Thinking he would hear Poppykit's early morning meows of protest, he sat in silence. Frowning, he slowly stood up, making his way to the nursery. "Is Poppykit still asleep? I didn't hear her this morning." He inquired, looking at the two queens who were residing in the nursery: Raineyes and Lillyfoot.

Violetsong hummed as she strolled along the riverbed, her jaws filled with coltsfoot. She paused as she heard a soft whimpering up ahead, speeding up to a smooth trot. Keeping her eyes peeled, she spotted the young mottled kit sniffling on the shore, staring into her reflection. Bending down and dropping her herbs in a neat little pile, she approached Poppykit gently. "Little one. You know you're not to leave camp until you're older. Why are you here?" Violetsong asked the kit softly without a hint of accusation in her voice. The young she-cat was obviously shaken and the medicine cat didn't honestly consider it that much of a crime for her to be outside anyway, so there was no reason to alarm her further. Rules or no rules.

Shinepaw yawned and stretched in the dim light of the apprentices den. Deeming it a waste of time to stand around doing nothing, she bounded to the riverbank to catch a fish or two. Huddled at the riverbank were Poppykit and Violetsong. "Hello?" she meowed quietly, padding towards them. "Poppykit, why are you outside of camp? Lilyfoot and Raineyes are worried," she mewed.

Stump-paw groggily got up at the sign of morning and a strange noise outside of his den pushed him to get up and do something productive.
The sun nearly blinded the dazed apprentice, and he hissed at its peaking head.
He soon got onto his feet, gazed around the apprentice den, and sluggishly got out of the slightly crowded area.
The camp was almost desolated, something unusual for him to experience, as either Poppykit or one of the younger apprentices would be pushing everyone to their feet by the time he woke up.
"Hmm, maybe all of them had a horrible day yesterday and need some sleep.
Yeah, that's it."
Stump-paw convinced himself, trying to not think of the worst, and soon grabbed a small fish before returning to the apprentice den to see if another clanmate will answer the question on why no one was waking them up. (and eat his fish obviously)
