What about a playpen, also called exercise pen? [url] They have ones with covers, ones that are soft and collapsible, etc. You could also put her in a dog safe room via a closed door or baby gate. I'm sure there are also smaller size kennels that could be put up indoors.

Also get her a harness for the car. There are many on the market but be careful as many are not crash tested and when they were, failed. Sleepypod harness are crash tested and passed, there may be others I'm not familiar with.
Don't forget dental care, start training your dog to accept having her teeth brushed while she's still young.
