Spider hissed. He glared at Needleshade for what felt like moons, then he turned away. He yowled for his cats to retreat and ran off. Before he slipped through the barrier he turned around and stared Azurestar straight in the eye "Goodbye, Azurepaw." He whispered loud enough for her to hear, and vanished.

He heard a yowl from somewhere inside the camp. Both curious and terrified, he stood up quickly and stepped around Smallpaw, Robinpaw, and the limp body of Acornpaw to stick his head outside the den and see what was going on. There was a huge rogue who had obviously made the sound and was in command of the hordes of other rogues. The rogues had started to retreat, and Nettlepaw felt relief flooding through his body. He turned back to where Smallpaw and Robinpaw were still sitting.
"The rogues are retreating!" he cried, suddenly excited. "This means Swanfeather can get to Acornpaw now!"

As she watched the tom she once loved disappear, emotion was caught in her chest and tears arose to her eyes, but she knew she must stay strong for her Clan. "Farewell, Spiderpaw," Azurestar sighed softly and closed her eyes, wishing that none of this had ever happened.

Jumping to her paws, she gasped and joined Nettlepaw at the entrance, peering out while trembling with excitement. There was just enough time left to help Acornpaw, and now she would be okay. Smallpaw rushed back over to Acornpaw and sat beside her, waiting for Swanfeather to arrive.

Hearing his leader calling for all of his followers to retreat, he glanced at the cats in the medicine cats' den, seeing if they were going to do anything, and quickly bounded out, sprinting after Spider.
