She glared at the new arrival. "I think I'll be going," she spat.

"No, you're staying. Lay down." Speckleflame demanded. "And don't disobey me, because I know you're in pain." She added.

Stone hung his head. "I'm a terrible father. I'm a terrible father!" He hadn't said anything else ever since he figured that the kits weren't coming back.

"Stone, Emerald, Ruby and Cloud just moved out," Frost meowed gently. "Only Quail died."

"But I could have done more." Stone sighed. "They probably got scared of how I looked." He said, glancing at the paw that jut to the left.

Frost smiled. "Don't you remember? When Cloud was first able to speak, she said she saw this 'gray cat'. And she said he wasn't as handsome as you."

"Cloud said that. She was only trying to save my feelings." Stone shook his head.

"Mhmm. It's good for keeping warm but bothersome during greenleaf. When it gets really hot instead of cold like now." Cloudgaze meowed. She tried to stay in the shade during the warmer seasons to prevent overheating but she was generally still uncomfortable during most of greenleaf.

Pikeflower rested his head back against the ground after adjusting his position so that he was on his side now, his back pressed up against One-eye. He hadn't purposely moved close to the other tom but since he was already there he wasn't going to move away.
