Redwood Valley Equestrian Centre Shire Horse Association

This association is for Shire horses! Any colour shire, any gender. Any Height Shire is accepted. We even accept mixed breeds! The Shire horse is a breed of draught horse or draft horse. The breed comes in many colours, including black, bay and grey. They are a tall breed, with mares standing 16 hands (64 inches, 163 cm) and over and stallions standing 17 hands (68 inches, 173 cm) and over. Shires are horses that are used for Farming and driving. They were almost killed out in the 1950s and 1960s. Their Numbers have risen, but they are still considered an endangered species.

Shire Horses are also known to also be bold jumpers, because of some influence of Clydesdale and Thoroughbred.
