The Kill wrote:The night was calm: a gentle breeze drifted across the
camp, not too cold that it gave the cats of Riverclan a
chill, but rather a pleasant breeze which ruffled their
fur and lulled them to sleep as the day came to a close.
That is, all but two cats, who were still awake and
wandering the camp.
Firefeather was sat gazing up at the dark blue sky.
The orange pelted tabby cat's eyes were trained on
the endless sky above, so focused that he didn't notice
another cat creeping across the camp, their identity
hidden by the dark. The unknown cat made their way
over to the fresh kill pile, where they searched through
the various pieces of prey before pulling a plump water
vole out of the pile.
Soon Firefeather felt sleep begin to creep up on him, as
well as a gnawing hunger as he realised that he hadn't
eaten since sunrise. He'd been hunting all day, and had
brought back a fair bit of prey, so decided that the clan
wouldn't mind if he took something small. Making his
way over to the fresh kill pile, he bent down, about to
pick up a minnow, when a voice sounded just behind him,
"There's a nice looking water vole there, Firefeather, and
you haven't eaten all day" the cat called over their
shoulder before returning to their den.
The tabby's eyes soon found the water vole the other cat
had mentioned, and it did look nice. Picking it up,
he quickly devoured the whole thing, not realising that
a small number of deathberries were hiding inside.
He never made it back to the warrior's den.
There is a murderer among you, Riverclan, watch out!
