Equestria is inhabited by magical ponies and other talking creatures, such as griffons and dragons. Other animals and creatures also live in Equestria. Equestria is called a kingdom though it does contain other "kingdoms" within it such as the Crystal Empire or Crystal Kingdom. Equestria is co-ruled by Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, who reside in a palace in the city of Canterlot.

Unicorns are one of several kinds of ponies that live in Equestria. They are characterized by their horns and their ability to perform magic.

As the name suggests, all unicorns have a long horn protruding from their forehead which glows when their magical powers are used. Although they are associated with their magic, a unicorn's horn is strong and sharp enough to have mundane uses.
A common ability among unicorns is using telekinesis to levitate or move objects,The ability to cast other spells varies widely and sometimes depends on the unicorn's special talent. Unicorn magic requires concentration and effort,

When unicorns cast magic, it produces a colored aura around their horns and any objects their magic affects. The color of the glow is different among individuals, usually matching a prominent color of their cutie mark or the color of their eyes. This color is distinctive to each unicorn, and changes in this color can indicate when something is amiss.However, some unicorns' magical aura matches neither their eyes nor their cutie mark.


Pegasus ponies, or Pegasi, are one of several kinds of ponies that live in Equestria. They are characterized by their wings and their ability to fly, walk on clouds, and control the weather.

The Pegasus tribe was one of the three founding groups of Equestria, and its members were responsible with maintaining the weather in return for food that was harvested by the Earth ponies.

Pegasi demonstrate great speed and agility in the air in multiple episodes.Pegasi naturally walk, sit, and lay on clouds, but unicorns and Earth ponies cannot do so. The sonic rainboom is an aerial display Pegasi handcraft snowflakes, an open area where Pegasi mix up rainbows and finally the cloud-making department.A team of Pegasi combine their wing power to create a jumbo tornado, powerful enough to pull water out of the local reservoir


Earth ponies have a special connection to nature, animals, and plants. Though they lack the ability to consciously cast spells like unicorns or to fly and walk on clouds like Pegasi, their connection to nature makes them "just as necessary" as and "perhaps more important" than the other ponies.The Earth ponies' connection to the land and animals manifests in various ways.many Earth ponies work to plow and sow the fields in Winter Wrap Up. Earth ponies also do most of the manual labor, such as scoring ice and clearing snow.

Earth ponies are shown pulling rickshaws, carriages, and even trains, suggesting natural physical ability. In more extreme cases, Earth ponies are shown accomplishing remarkable physical feats such as pulling entire houses across the landscape or easily breaking through barricades.their talent for animal care is less prominently featured.However, not all Earth ponies are farmers. Earth ponies work in a variety of professions, including many prestigious or influential ones

Earth ponies posses a diverse range of talents and capabilities, as previously mentioned. One recurring trait, however, is their physical prowess. Physically very powerful, Earth ponies are capable of performing incredible feats of strength with little or no visible strain and enjoying long-lasting stamina as well.Earth ponies have been seen displaying an excellent sense of balance, stacking and coordinating several objects on top of one another without difficulty.

TheElements of Harmony are six supernatural artifacts representing subjective aspects of harmony.the Elements of Harmony are "the most powerful magic known to ponydom"the Elements of Harmony were found and taken from the Tree of Harmony by Princess Celestia and Princess Luna thousands of years ago. However, doing so had the potential to release the Everfree Forest and destroy Equestria. Each artifact represents an element of friendship and can only work if wielded by one who possesses the corresponding trait and if all six are used in conjunction.They have been wielded on rare occasions, particularly during events marked by danger and anarchy as a last resort to restore and enforce the balance of peace and order. However, the effects of their use are generally temporary and non-lethal, usually a form of banishment or imprisonment.
