Icefrost shuddered and his gaze flickered between the two cats. His teeth clamped around Brightkit's scruff and he picked the poor kit up.
It wasn't her time to die. He wanted so badly for the little kit to look at him and ask him why he was shaking.
But it couldn't be.

He trembled all the way back to camp and felt his stomach drop when he saw the panic and confusion.
His gaze was clouded so much that it seemed he was all bling instead of half-deaf, and he set the little kit on the ground.
"B-bright-kit. Bri-ght kit and Sal-monst-rike are... they... were kill-ed.

His body shook, his sides heaved.
"I think a RiverClan cat did it."

Silverfrost turned around to talk with Ashstar, but she was only met with Icefrost, who was carrying a kit.. who looked very similar to Brightkit. The warrior stepped back in shock, not able to process what the Tom had said. It was all happening way too fast.

Ashstar's world slowed to a stop when Icefrost came padding into camp with the limp body of a bloodied calico kitten in his jaws. His words seemed to break her out of her trance, and she padded forward to meet the medicine cat tom. "Icefrost, are you sure this was done by Riverclan? What cat is sick enough to kill a queen and her kit!?" Ashstar meowed mournfully. She paused for a second and took a deep breath, trying to ignore the blood and death scent that was rolling off the kit's small, still body."Does any cat wish to retrieve Salmonstrike's body? We must hold a vigil for the two tonight. Then we will get down to the bottom of this hateful crime." Ashstar hissed determinedly, holding her head up high and remaining a cool and collected leader. But inside, she was in a panic. Her eyes darted around camp, contemplating the innocence of her clan. Could it have been a RiverClan cat? If so, who? Who is capable of this?

His body shook, his sides heaved.
Was it them? No. Them? Could it?
It could be anyone.

His eyes fell on Ashstar.
"That's all I smelt. No fox, no rogue, no other clan." Before the question could be asked, he continued. "No lavender, either. Just Riverclan."

Someone did it. But who?
"Pondberry."
The words came out of his mouth almost of their own accord.
"You're the deputy! They'd trust you!"

He didn't fully understand his own accusation. It could've been a sneak-attack. But.. there was that nagging possibility.
"Why... why... did you do that, Pondberry. How could you?"
The question wasn't addressed at anyone in particular.
"Why did you do this... StarClan...
