I'm excited to see where Parrapups go from here.
I like the marking ideas/names so far.
I'm not fond of ARPG/genetics stuff, but I'd give it a whirl!
(I could never get into Tokotas or all that. Haha.)

I just own two Parrapups: Aiko and Hotaru. ;v;

I haven't posted here properly in forever, but Hotaru did receive some pretty art from some time ago!
I also drew a fullbody for him.

I'm going to make two separate groups, one for the ARPG-ish stuff, and one just for the species itself. ovo I want to reward people for their work and no way do I want the arpg to be revolved around breeding their parras. I never wanted that for the species and sadly that's what it's all about >A> there are parras with illegal traits out there that I would also love to see fixed.

as for people who do not have deviantart or do not wish to move their parras, here it is. They will be parrapups, they can follow all lore and such if you read up what's going on on the new pages, BUT you will not be allowed to transfer any ownership, no breeding, and because of being unable to post of course, i can't give you rewards for joining in on events.

I would love any suggestions on how to create a community that wont base everything around breeding, I want it to be there because sadly that's how people work, they want bigger better, but I want it to be about character building.

There will be a reputation system, quests that advance you towards corruption (Receiving bat wings in the end game) or becoming virtuous (Receiving seraph wings in end game)
All parras have magic (Though this doesn't mean strong powers, this means spells), and classes will be introduced, different scrolls and potions to transform them, roleplaying, art, and writing I want all to be rewarded with currency of probably something simple like D&D (copper, silver, golds, and platinums)

I want all of these to be available and drawn in a style people can do (Anthro, human, or just feral!)
it's going to be difficult as all hell, but I'm open to any suggestions.

As a member of the community who's been here for over 2 years now; I would like to mention that the only real reason that people bred their parras so often is because there was kinda no other way to really participate in the community??? For literally over a year now?? I know that there were RP attempts and such, but there was hardly ever any little world-building events and such during the 2+ years that I was here. And the roleplays that did start were never that long lived, or never even started :/
The competition for every single new design was tough (which made a lot of people loose interest in the community), and most of the artists had moved on to different things or didn't have access to oekaki; so there weren't any "new" ideas or parras being put out there. Literally the only place that was active was the breeding center, and it was also the easiest area for a non-owner to even get a chance at owning a parra.

And as for a community that isn't based around breeding... Maybe try to be more open with the community and staff about changes before they happen? Have open active events and streams? Like give people some options for the community. Give them tons of casual in-universe roleplays, an actually functioning shop where they can get trait alterations, opportunities to suggest changes that they want to see without being scared that they're gonna be repremanded. Let them have cool events at least 3 times a year, have scheduled streams where you and the staff actually interact with everyone!

But I'd say most of all; have more than two active people on the staff, and try to communicate with your community. The big issue with parras was that for a long while, only a few staff were actually doing things, and no new staff or guest staff were being added to keep the species going. Mon and Gee have had to carry Parras for you for a long time (At least 9 months now :T). I think it's due that you gave them some serious kudos for carrying Parras on for so long without any help from the other staff and with very minimal help from you. And lets be serious, nobody on your staff except those two and PK (every once and a while) bothered to help anybody after a while. Those two nursery artists had to mod the fanclub and main thread for you in addition to the nursery when people had questions or caused problems.

Get some new active staff and let Gee and Mon rest. They've done enough.

@Beat as well - Can we transfer our parras designs to a different species if we wish to leave the community or decide to no longer participate?

Thank you for your suggestions, but if you feel this way, I do not want anyone negative in the community and as I said, I will be more strict about anyone creating an uncomfortable environment for me or anyone else, and appropriate actions will be taken.

No one will be forced to move to Deviantart, but moving designs is up to artist. if anyone owns a parra created by another artist, you need their permission to move it, not mine. if it is one of my designs, I ask it stays as an older parra or you return it and I will find them a new home by free means.

I will not tolerate negativity or anyone who makes me resent this species any longer, unless it would be preferred by community I completely shut them down. If I had no care for this species, I would have shut them down the minute half of my staff decided to quit about me wanting to fire staff members who made me hate this species.

Here's my advice to you; rps or any project will not work well if it's only one person making it for you. The reason being; the people it's made for feel no connection in the project since they had no involvement in it. Any roleplay where you just magically "expect" staff to make one isn't going to work without the community coming together and telling them what you want. It just won't, and that's with any project or idea.
Don't you think it's just a little unfair to put the blame entirely on one person? It's not the owner of the species' fault if an rp doesn't work, or if the competition is too tough for you.

I think you should take a page out of the politeness book because a lot of that was, if not borderline, pretty passive aggresive. It's all just pixels, my dude, it's all just pixels

Nevermind. I'm cancelling all development on parras for now. it was stupid for me to think I could get the species back up. Please close the nursery. I'm done. All parras have to stay as parras because I will not make sure that designs aren't stolen any longer and transferring species designs will only create drama of stolen designs.

I'm done with this.

      That's incredibly disappointing, actually. I was really looking forward to all the new things you were talking about doing with Parras, especially since I'd love to be more active with mine. However, I understand wanting to shut things down now before the drama gets overboard.

      Whether or not you decide to eventually come back to these, Beat, I wish you good luck in all you do c: Thanks for bringing us this cool species

I'm also very disappointed as well, but I entirely respect your decision here, Beatnik. As much as I was looking forward to all of the really neat things you had planned over on DA, it might be better to close the species and let things settle for a while. Maybe someday they can be up and running again, but for now I don't think the community is entirely ready.

Even though I'm a non-owner, I've been stalking this species for years and I have to say that we should be grateful for everything that Beat was trying to do to improve the species. Reviving parrapups would have fixed many of the issues that I have seen and that have been brought up, as well as bring the community together as a whole. I really don't understand why people had to be against these changes for the better or against Beat for actually attempting to fix this, but I don't think we can ever really understand everyone's motives.

I'll certainly miss parrapups, but it was a fun run while it lasted and I'm grateful that they were open for as long as they were; I really enjoyed participating in past events and meeting so many kind people! Thank you Beatnik, and thank you to the staff who helped make it possible for so long ;v;

I'm going to post here once more to apologize.

Yes, a lot of my post was passive aggressive. But you literally know nothing of my situation here. I've been in Parras for literal years, I've worked my butt off to develop my lil guys for hours and hours. Parras were a huge part of my life at one point, and seeing them fade away was really sad.

I appreciated that Beatnik was trying very hard to bring parras back. I understand how hard it is to move a species and try to come up with all the things she was doing. I was not bashing on any of that at all. I actually adored all of Beats new ideas.

I do understand that it was the fault of many many people and that it was not entirely Beatnik's fault.
I've apologized to Beat for my words already; so please don't PM me or post on here any further about what I said. Please.

Thank you to the community for making my time here a fun time, and for the staff for all their hard work.
Back at it again lads 😳😳
